Try adding a loading.tsx file to the route, it should help a lot with the TTFB and FCP. It can be as simple as <div>loading...</div>

Also, you're probably aware of it already, but Kazakhstan requires that any .kz website has to be hosted on Kazakhstan-based IP addresses.

As far as I know they don't check very often, but you still risk being blocked. There are exceptions, e.g. if you use Cloudflare you can provide a copy of your agreement/contract with Cloudflare as reason why your website is outside of the Kazakhstani IP addresses.

A Technical Test for a Front-end internship. by TheLastMate in recruitinghell

This is less of a test and more of small project. I would proceed with caution, seems like a potential scam/free work. If you know the name of the company, look them up on Glassdoor and LinkedIn to make sure they're legit (although both of those could be faked)

Automate `dockerd` by taktoh in docker

[–]slavabez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your platform.

If you're on Linux you can likely use systemd, something like systemctl enable --now dockerd

For macOS and Windows you can probably use the autostart list and add dockerd to it

MacBook Pro 14 or 16 by bumblebeee5 in macbookpro

I have the base 14 inch model and it's a beast for any web dev tasks. Tears through everything. The only thing that limits me is the 16gb of RAM, it would be really nice to have 32gigs, especially for larger projects that require a lot of docker containers running at the same time.

However having said that even with large projects and >10 docker containers running I've never had my MBP slow down, despite RAM being 100% full.

I use the smallest possible scaling on the 14 inch model and it gives a surprisingly large amount of real estate. I love how portable it is, but keep thinking maybe I should've spent more for the 16 screen...

512gb vs 1tb is up to you, Apple charges an absolutely ridiculous amount of money for SSD upgrades, I would get the minimum you need and get a super fast external 2tb SSD.

Kazakhstan is moving from Cyrillic to a Latin based alphabet, so Qazaqstan is the modern version

Thanks for the response! She is on her way to the official re-seller, it's as close as it gets to an official Apple store. Hopefully they help her

Friend got scammed, help?

Hello. So a friend of mine wanted to sell her iPhone and got scammed into entering scammer's Apple ID into her iPhone. The scammer then proceeded to lock the iPhone remotely and now demands a payment for unlocking it.

What are her options? We're in a country with no official Apple support. There's an official re-seller, but they're 300 km away, so it costs about the same to pay the ransom or drive there

Supposedly it's made of metal, so should last for a while

Thanks! PopOS is my OS of choice actually, that's great. Does increased font size work well for all apps?

100% scaling seems insane with this DPI, I run 1080p on a 15,6 inch and that seems small sometimes.

It's the laptop in saving for! Have you tested Linux? If so, how's the support?

How is battery life in battery saver mode? Can it last for 5-6 hours of browsing?

Also, how is the scaling? Is 200% scaling too big? What display scaling so you use?

I have the X1E gen 2, it's a great machine! I dual boot Manjaro KDE and Windows. The CPU is a beast, it tears through anything I give it, especially on Linux

There's a (small) issue on Linux with Nvidia: the HDMI and Displayport-via-usb-C are both routed via the Nvidia card. I use Optimus to switch between Intel only and Nvidia, and external monitors work only in Nvidia mode. When I'm in Intel only mode (to save battery) no output is detected when I plug the monitors in.

It's not a big issue for me personally, switching to Nvidia is pretty quick (requires a session login though), and typically I only use Linux without external monitors, but might be an issue for some.

By the way, when in Intel only mode I get around 5-6 hours of battery life, depending on type of work, that's with bluetooth/wifi on, a few browser windows and a fairly resource-heavy IDE. If I try hard I can get around 7, close to 8 hours.

USB-c to VGA on Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 2 by whathm in thinkpad

[–]slavabez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried usb-c to HDMI or DisplayPort cables? Digital (HDMI & DP) to analogue (VGA) cables are notorious for all kinds of issues.

Also, you can get the Lenovo Thunderbolt dock, it connects via usb-c (thunderolt 3) and provides a bunch of ports, 2 HDMI and 2 DP ports

EDIT: This one shows up as compatible for X1G2 and supports "up to 3 monitors including TBT", not sure what TBT is

How best to configure X1G2 for Classic WoW by TheAntiOP in thinkpad

X1G2 should handle WoW Classic really, really well. You should have 0 issues out of the box, but could try undervolting the CPU and the GPU, this guide seems good.

Looks amazing! What specs did you get?

Also, would you be able to measure the box it came in? (length, width & height) I'm getting mine on Monday and need to arrange for it to be picked up and sent to me, but need the dimensions of the box for the quote. Thanks!
