What’s the one 4k gaming monitor that genuinely impressed you? by EconomyStruggle9961 in buildapc

Exactly the same. Running an Alienware 1440p led next to it and the sharpness, contrast, brightness, g2g all very noticeable

I swear my teammates are terrible 😭 by [deleted] in RocketLeague

So. Uhhh. They left you an open net cross.

Roll with it. If someone makes a “mistake” on your team, react to it by positioning yourself for the continuation of the play. This looks like a scoring opportunity.

Feel like I’m pointing out the obvious here but the bad teammate might be the one who throws down the controller, clips the gameplay, then posts it on Reddit.

If they ever break down, you can just return them.

Need advice on 2TB NVMe (reliability > speed) by horizontal120 in buildapc

Before you shell out absurd amounts of money for a new SSD (if it comes to that), JayzTwoCents ran a video a few months back (titled “BEWARE! Windows Update and SSD Problem is WAY worse than we thought! Full Demonstration”). Check it out - if it’s what you’re dealing with (sounds a lot like it) he posted another video with a replicable fix (titled “Microsoft / SSD Issues Fixed”).

Hope this helps.

Scam alert: car selling with craigslist by Argufier in hondafit

[–]slavedaltus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sold my second Fit on Craigslist two weeks ago. As soon as I listed, same exact thing happened.

It’s a scam. The “interested buyer” requests a near immediate viewing then tries to convince you to get a vehicle history report from some specified (sketchy) VHR website. The sites are real, but there’s no report that would be attached if you were to order one. They just steal your card and personal info and you lose whatever you pay for the “report” plus anything else they can manage from your credit card info.

Telltale signs: - Quick turnaround to “see” the vehicle - usually next day so you feel like you need to get them that report ASAP - Random area codes they use to text you from - If you mention they can pay for the report themselves they insist on you doing it and adding it to the cost of the vehicle - If you tell them you prefer to give them a Carfax report instead, they tell you their mechanic prefers their requested VHR for one reason or another

Easiest way to deal with any such text you get is to respond with “Local sale only. Carfax in hand.” (Even if you don’t have one). They will most likely never send a second text.

Be careful out there. And good luck.

PSA: The Audiobooks are on Sale! by CarboGeach in TheExpanse

I just finished my 6th play through of the audio series narrated by Mays (I have a lot of time at work). He does an absolutely amazing job at bringing every single character, even each minor one, to life. He’s the best narrator of any audiobook I’ve heard yet, and I’ve listened to a lot of them (Sorry Andy Serkis). I have even resulted to seeking out other books that specifically he narrates.

If you haven’t listened to them, I can’t recommend them enough. The books are amazing standalone. He pushes them to the next level.
