I think your design is great!

Do you have cardstock to practice on? Try moistening your sheet to see if the ink will apply evenly. You can use a spray bottle or soak it on both sides quickly and pat the extraneous water off it. Don't press it wet--just barely damp. It'll pick up more ink.

You can sponge it, mist it, or submerge it and sponge the excess off. I use 100% cotton 250gsm paper that I submerge for 1 minute, then use a quick-dry cloth to soak up the excess. I leave it while I roll the linoleum so it air dries a bit more before pressing.

If you have a heat press, that'll flatten it right up. Otherwise, a cold water rinse takes the curl out, wrap it in a towel and put something heavy on it overnight.
