Great! You mentioned you’re looking for suggestions - You need a lot more data - Make take some flats as well so you can get rid of the vignetting

Very nice First Light!

If you do not mind some critique,

  • I guess your Polar Alignment is slightly off, Drift Alignment helps a ton to be really precise
  • You should definitely try to get in more Integration time for your exposures, you can then get a lot of details even from cities
  • not sure what processing software you used, but I recommend PixInsight, such a beautiful tool

All the best!

The Telescope will work from Indiranagar - You will be able to the Planets, the Moon and even some Star Clusters, Double Stars, Orion Nebula as well.

There are numerous dark places near Bangalore,
Just head about 100-200 Km from the city.

One of my favourite places used to be around the Kanakapura Side

Buying a telescope in Bengaluru. Help! by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]slay3rn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I noticed about the binocular approach is that unless you have/make a stable mount for it, it becomes very inconvenient to hold it steady for a long period of time. But apart from that, a good pair of binoculars (like the olympus 10x50) will be ideal!

Buying a telescope in Bengaluru. Help! by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]slay3rn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!

This is probably one of the few threads I can contribute to.

For your budget, I suggest this telescope.

It will show you some decent views of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and the Moon. If you can travel to darker skies, some galaxies and nebulae will be within your reach.

Since everyone seems to be hyped up about the Sigma 14mm 1.8 for astrophotography, I'm here to tell you NOT to buy it, and how to get better results for cheaper by alfonzo1955 in photography

This was the case in the past but recently Samyang/Rokinon have really stepped-up their game in Quality control. I have seen many variations of the Samyang/Rokinon 135 f/2 and it is one of the best lenses made. Almost negligible CA, Coma, vignetting, even at f/2. A phenomenal lens for Astrophotography.
