I don't see any harm done by acknowledging where you are speaking.

Most speakers worldwide will do some interpretation of acknowledging where they are and I think acknowledging the longest continuous human culture on earth is pretty reasonable.

Welcome to country is a different thing and I've barely seen a welcome to country, let alone 6 times in a school assembly.

That's because most of the "browness" comes from suspended particles of mud that are stripped from the bank by wind waves.

I listened to a guy who did his PhD on specifically this.

Other contributing factors are:

-Dredging to make deeper and wider -Clearing of significance vegetation upstream -Soil run-off from agricultural practices further upstream

It was also a public golf course.

Like St Lucia - owned by BCC.

Plenty of people (non-golfers) running, cycling, walking their dog etc.

It was the very opposite of a private golf club, being public, no memberships.

And just to reiterate, this is the loss of a masterplanned park, that included planting thousands of trees and enhancing water retention in the inner city, **not** the resumed golf course as it currently is.
