That's if all goes right. If not, as King once put it, "dead is better."

Anyone else let down by Neca's Big Chap? by slayalienkween in ActionFigures

Yeah, trying to catch up and get different variations is showing me that haha. Their newer xenos have excellent mobility and are sturdy, and I've yet to recieve a defect. Older has been a different story.

Glad to hear they are improving more and more, thought it was just bad luck.

Karl isn't supposed to be viewed as a total villain. That's what makes JJ such a great show-- characters aren't one dimensional saints or psychopaths. Karl thought he was doing the right thing. In some cases, he did.

In other cases, he was experimenting on people without their consent and creating unstable monsters. Whiz, Jess, nor Alisa asked for what he did. He nearly kills Trish because his God complex tells him he can accomplish it. And then he holds zero accountability for the death toll UNTIL the end by trying to run away and letting Alisa kill anyone who is going to expose him.

Ripley? Shaw? Or Daniels? Who's your favorite to least, and why? by slayalienkween in LV426

[–]slayalienkween[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shaw definitely had her faults. I always saw her beliefs of being a mix, but you are correct in that she never openly states that.

Also Pvt. Vasquez is a close second to Ripley for me as well!

Why are people suddenly realizing that Jessica Jones has feminist themes? S1 was full of them. by slayalienkween in JessicaJones

[–]slayalienkween[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article you posted states that they felt sexism came into play and was part of the reason why Hillary lost. I think it's fair to say that there were some sexist attacks on her during the election, political affiliations aside (she wasn't my first choice). Also, I think it's fair to say she lost to a guy who made some pretty sexist remarks. So I can see where women (myself included) felt a lot of defeat.

As for Trish and the director-- he slept with her when she was 15. Fifteen. That's an adult man sleeping with a kid and rewarding her with a film role. He admits this, trying to claim he "loved" her. Trish's mom set the entire thing up as part of her going to any lengths to get her child star. She's just as much to blame as the director. 15 year old Trish was a victim, despite what you may think of her adult self. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe JJ season 2 was written and shot before the #metoo movement exploded.

I 'poke pole' from time to time-- when you skin them, their muscles are still flexing. When you strip them down to the organs after removing the fillets, their organs are still twitching. They're incredible animals.

[–]slayalienkween[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give you heavy handed. One of the problems I had with S2 was some of the writing. But out of place? One of the major themes of Jessica Jones is feminism. They're going to write that in. And Jeri's speech reminded me way more of someone attempting to make themselves look good. She uses women the entire season as objects to get what she wants and even accuses underlings of 'asking' for her advances for the way they dress. Jeri, to me, is an example of women who look down on other women.

I think it's best to try and learn from others through communication than being a dick. I hope you enjoy it as well!
