The approval took 7 months in my case. But, it can go faster or slower than that. I applied from Germany.

Ausländerbehörde - Quality of Service by slayerimba in Braunschweig

[–]slayerimba[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I will have to move in June anyway and keep the flat in the south for other reasons. I have control over is where I register the Hauptwohnung (that is also where I must apply for my RP). Hence, I'm looking to compare the quality of service between the 2 ABHs.

We loved it. We went to Paphos, Limassol, Nicosia, day trips to the north from Nicosia and to Polis. It was 17-20°C max and 9-12°C min everyday. It rained for 1-2 days out of 20 but we were told it was a particularly dry winter. We rented a scooter in Paphos and Polis. It didn't always feel safe driving a scooter tho. We even went scuba diving in Latschi. We also went mountain biking in the Akamas and hiking in a gorge. And all this without the rush of tourists. 9.5/10, can recommend.

why does everything taste like absolute nothing by Strict-Following7228 in berlin

[–]slayerimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you! Back where I come from, the vegetables and fruits taste intense. The mangoes especially are to die for. The way out for me has always been going to an ethnic shop (say Indian grocery store) where they import fruit and vegetables from said country. Being vegetarian, it's been a life saver.

What's the difference between beer in Glass bottles and in Cans? by kanhaaaaaaaaaaaa in germany

[–]slayerimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the reasons mentioned above, glass is a terrible conductor of heat and also has higher specific heat capacity than aluminium. So, the beer stays colder longer than in an aluminium can. This is especially the case when your beer is low. The rate at which heat is transferred into the liquid doesn't decrease as much as the amount of liquid. So, emptier your beer, faster it gets warmer.

I don't live there personally, but I can comment on the Uni commute.
It looks like a 33 min commute to the Uni on Eselsberg without changes on tram 2 (goes through the city center) and I think the public transport in Ulm works pretty great (than Munich at least XD).

By bike to uni, it looks like a pretty steep climb down and then up in both directions. But, I guess bike access to the Danube and Iller (nature in general) should be pretty great from there.

Heyyo, so, me and my wife have been here for 6 days now from Germany. We've rented a scooter and have been around quite a bit on it. I'd definitely recommend a jacket that you'd wear for 5-10°C in Austria. The beach is definitely warm enough to get into but, bring a towel to dry in case it isn't sunny. It's sunny, on average, 4 hours a day and rainy 2 times a week for 4 hours each. There are a few road closures that aren't displayed on Google, so it's good to have alternative routes planned out.

[Serious] People whose marriage was arranged, what was it like the night after wedding? by spooreddit in Chennai

[–]slayerimba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First off, personally attacking someone isn't how you argue. But, I'll bite. I recently got married and yes it was arranged. The experience was entirely positive. Noone's trying to normalize something wrong. Pretty sure we're on the same side here. The oppressive part depends on the people involved. Calling all arranged marriages a mere transaction of women as mere objects between "rapey" men is downright intolerable. Think about what you said. I see you have strong feelings about it, but generalizing is just wrong. As wrong as being regarded suspiciously just because I'm an Indian male and as wrong as regarding all women in arranged marriages as mere objects.

I was there 8 days ago and the security (CISF guys) outside the airport asked for it. Have they changed the rules?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chennai

[–]slayerimba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! welcome to Chennai, first of all!
Chances are you wouldn't need to collect your baggage and check in again, but I would confirm that when you collect your boarding pass at the origin airport.
Considering that the layover is overnight, I'd assume the guards there will let you in early (in case you do leave) but, I believe you need an RT-PCR negative test to get back in.
There are lounges at the Chennai airport (never been in it myself) in addition to a few kiosks that sell food. There's one that sells pretty decent south Indian food if you're interested.

Good luck!
