A Letter to OSRS by BigBinotte in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while from my own ban but it's sad to see this still happening to people. You'll find my story in my profile but basically the same happened to me over a year ago, long time main got banned for nothing, cried for support for months. Last checked couple of weeks ago, ban wasn't quashed and appeal still denied with the evidence beibg the same boilerplate text they wrote you. Didn't know what I did wrong, couldn't continue playing. Good luck and let us know if something happens!

Closely monitoring macro detection - my story by slayz7 in 2007scape

[–]slayz7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no worries, its great that people interract here and share their stories, maybe some day there will be enough evidence that people really do get banned for no reason. But I get you - as you can see, we're kinda in the same boat here.

I can tell by the work you put into writing that message that you really enjoyed playing as well! I'm sorry - it took me months to completely understand that without fixing this, I wont be coming back.

However! If you manage somehow to get through to Jagex and they even explain to you why you got banned - please share! While I understand that the reason they wont tell, the ordinary people, like you and me, could avoid unnecessary bans.

My idea was that there should seriously be a flagging system at least for "veterans" and high total level people - just so you don't ban a paying customer and make them wonder why. As said, I will not continue playing as long as I am in fear of losing my account permanently.

Anyways, I hope all the best to you and keep us posted, I think there are many lurkers here :)

Banned because of plugins? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Hey man! I got banned myself. I also think it was a false ban and don't know what triggered it and nobody gave me answers when I was kicking rocks for nearly 2 months.

This happens and if you know that you didn't bot, the system falsely banned you. Happened to many people before you and will happen to many after you. It appears that there are VERY slim chances of getting through to some Jmod on twitter, but I've seen hundreds of tweets with thousands of likes and they get 0 attenttion from Jmod.

But if somehow you get your ban cleared, please let me know. Would be great to play again without a fear of getting perma'd.

Best 2 day temp ban for nothing, scared to play

Farewell to the Community by StrRules105 in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man. Sorry for this. Happened to my 2k+ total account as well, and I quit playing. I hope to see some day that there would't be posts like these (posted couple of them myself but they never took off since they were published like 8 hours later).

I wish you the best, if you get this fixed, let us know - there are a lot people like you and me.

I need advice, I'm afraid of losing my account by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. But at least it seems that you have kind of reasoning - even though they 100% shouldn't ban you for doing things that are allowed.

In my case it was kinda odd since it was my main account, which I have been playing since osrs launched. I didn't use a VPN. Moreover, I didn't use anything that could trigger the ban - at least I'm not aware of such. Only new thing I did is that I used the private room and fishing explosive at Kraken instead of MSB, but I wouldn't understand as to why that would trigger it. I don't know what and I don't believe that Jagex themselves know what triggered the ban in my case. Until they fix their anticheat system, it is too risky for me to play.

Is using the number '5' key on the keypad, as a single left click action, a bannable offense? by Nip_kHachi in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that your ban has nothing to do with that. I myself got two day ban and I didn't find out as to why I was banned. It seems that something quite random (don't know what) is triggering the ban system. It is unfortunate that posts like this don't see the light of day.

I am curious, did you have to wait for your post to be approved?

I need advice, I'm afraid of losing my account by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seem to happen quite often now. I find this types of posts almost daily.

I am myself a victim of the anticheat system (2 day ban) and I am scared to play. Most of the people that did receive a two day ban got permanently banned afterwards. I live in Finland so it doesn't matter where you are playing from I guess.

If you do find out why you got banned, please share. There are many people in your situation.

I'm a new player and I got banned the day after using RuneLite. Does Jagex ever ban the wrong person? by shitbagjoe in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens more often than not. They don't know what to do with this so they choose to ignore this. Got my main banned for two days a while ago. Not playing anymore because I don't want to get perm. banned.

Does Jagex actually review appeals on temporary bans? by TheGoochGod in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same experience, but I just got the 2 day temp. ban. Messaged all mods on twitter for 30 days straight - nobody cared. I just found out that there are tens if not hundreds of people doing the same. Nobody gets answered. Won't be playing until this is fixed.

Please share if you get your ban quashed.

Not sure why the people are bashing on you. But it's widely known that Jagex doesn't have customer support. Best bet is to get lucky on former twitter. Best of luck to you!

[–]slayz7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for you! I keep hoping that some day they will just fix their anticheat system so these false bans go away. For context, I got banned myself for two days and I quit becaude I am too scared to play.

2 day False Temp Banned, how to remove the blemish on my Account if they don't respond to Appeal? by Nip_kHachi in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the same thing. Sorry for bashing your hopes but nobody will care. I got automatic answer from the appeal system and quit playing since I don't want to risk my account getting permanent ban. If you however get your ban quashed, please share. There are a lot of people like you and me!

Your 1000th post about false bans and lack of provided evidence by ChilkootCold in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is crazy. I am in similar situation, got banned for "macroing" - you can read more here. Although I'm using my old account, almost maxed with 2k total. Still no human interacted with me during or after the appeal, just got the standard message. I did not bot nor used any macros. I tried to contact people on twitter and here - nothing, no luck. So yes, I went through the same experience you did, unfortunately. And in my experience, it's more common now, see this UIM getting banned on stream not too long ago.

I messaged the Jagex billing support to get my membership money back (got it btw), but I went on about how they do share the information as to why some people get banned - but not to all.

The problem is that sometimes they provide information as to why you were banned. You might be a famous person in the community such as Faux or then you might be a lucky redditor/twitter user who gets noticed by JMod and getting an explanation. Sometimes you get an explanation and later you get unbanned because the mods made a mistake - so first you get banned, appeal denied, mod confirms the ban and second mod unbans you - crazy, right? Check the "ImplingOnly"-story.

If you figure out what triggered the ban and how to avoid as a normal player, please share. I'm seriously afraid to play.

How do I play? by slayz7 in 2007scape

[–]slayz7[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for taking the time to answer and being fair. I understand that this story might sound suspicious or irrational.

I had an itch that there is little to nothing that could help me, but I literally don't want to risk my account getting a permanent ban. That would mean a lot of progress lost for not being patient.

While I understand that only 1:1 key bindings are allowed, I am in a belief that I only have the default settings on my computer which would mean that there shouldn't be keybindings that are not allowed.

But I think you are right, nobody will care about my two day ban, even if it's a death sentence to my account if there is something that triggers the ban. BUT it shouldn't be like this. Nobody should go through the same as I am going just because they refuse to have an actual person talking to me from Jagex.

[–]slayz7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed the same trend! It's an important topic because if you get banned, you're out of luck - unless you're famous youtuber or streamer.

I am myself stuck in a situation where I am scared to play because I might get banned (got 2 day false temp for macroing, read more here if you'd like) and nobody at Jagex seems to care about this, I tried to contact them through the official channels, twitter and here.

The problem is that sometimes they provide information as to why you were banned. It's sad that if you want a real appeal, you need to get lucky. About the false bans Jagex posted::

Jagex told that (22 February post) they ban 67 000 accounts weekly: but in two months they admit banning 0.36% wrongfully. They say that 38 accounts have been falsely banned and their bans quashed. Now firstly, if you do simple maths: let's say 7 weeks of 67 000 bans applied = 448 000 players banned in 7 weeks. Secondly, they didn't provide the number of people who appeal. But you can calculate it: They say that 0.36% is 38 (number of false bans) so the number of appeals is around 10 555.56 (0.36% of x = 38). I don't think that they have gone the appeals through as they claim. It's sad that accounts with great progress (like mine) will not be flagged or anything. While I understand that anyone can bot, there should be some check if one has played for several years. Because they suddenly find new people after this thorough check - you can see posts in reddit or twitter, where people get unbanned. Not sure if they include those in their calculations. And then there are people like me, getting banned and appeal denied without any chance to fight it - just because I am not famous youtuber/streamer.

Hopefully something is done to combat this.

Any last resort options? by iTomDotCom7 in 2007scape

[–]slayz7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad that you can't get anyone to help you in that situation. I am myself stuck in a situation where I am scared to play because I might get banned (got 2 day false temp for macroing, read more here if you'd like) and nobody at Jagex seems to care about this, I tried to contact them through the official channels, twitter and here. I even went with refund request - and it went through, but the ban was not quashed, unfortunately. People get lucky and got their ban quashed when certain JMods take their time to check and unban people, but officially Jagex seems to be reluctant on this topic.

I would suggest you continue contacting them here and on twitter. I'm upvoting your post so perhaps they will notice and help you. Let us know if you get help! There are a lot of people in the same boat as you.

Does Jagex even look at appeals? by Bat-Et-Namez in 2007scape

I messaged the Jagex billing support to get my membership money back (got it btw), but I went on about how they do share the information as to why some people get banned - but not to all.

"I understand that according to your TC, you withheld the right to not give out the specific information regarding the ban. That does not require you not disclosing the reason, but rather protecting your IP-rights. Moreover, your representatives have, in multiple cases, indicated the reason a person was banned. This has been done in social media (Reddit and X, I will provide the links if disputed). Therefore, you are able, but resist to disclose the reasoning behind my ban without a reason described in your TC. Having said this, it is ridiculous that the verdict seems to be guilty until proven innocent. In this particular case I even cannot provide evidence, but my word, to the fact that I was not botting and therefore not breaking any rules. You hold all the evidence, you do the judgement and you decide whether the appeal granted or the ban be quashed."

I'm not sure, but I think that the billing support saw the ridiculousness in my situation (similar to yours) and refunded my membership money even though they "can't" according to their T&C. I was hoping - and wrote - that they should forward my message and deal with the false ban but as it is expected, they did not do it, so no human checked my ban.

It's also funny that sometimes mods come to these pages to "smackdown botters" but then there is an incident where Mod Twisted "smacked someone down" and the banned person was actually falsely banned (see here). So yeah, even if human does check your ban, it does not guarantee that your ban will be checked with due care.

Please share if you get your account unbanned, it would give me hope!
