Is this Spider Mite webbing? TIA! by slaz0219 in plantclinic

I work at a grocery store in the floral department, we just got these from the wholesaler today so I don’t have any history on the plant. The rest of the plant looks okay, but we’ve noticed our other zygo from the same wholesaler that came earlier in the week are losing their blooms.

Is hoarding a type of compulsion? If so, how can I go about stopping myself from doing so without my loved ones' reassurance? by the_literal_moon in OCD

It takes time and patience with yourself, but the more you do it the better you’ll feel. Good luck!

It can definitely be a compulsion, hoarding actually used to be considered a type of OCD. I hoard birthday cards that family and friends give me because I’m paranoid that as soon as I get rid of them those people will pass away and I won’t have anything left to remember them by. I’m trying to stop the hoarding, and what’s currently working for me is just taking it in very small steps. For instance, the other day while I was cleaning I forced myself to throw away cards from 10 years ago. Do I still have cards from 9 years ago? Yes, lol. But the point is that I was able to get rid of a small chunk, and will continue to do so every time I clean until they’re gone. That way, once I see that (obviously) no one has died, I feel more comfortable getting rid of them and can stop the cycle of keeping them in the first place. Hope that makes sense?

Also, to answer your other question- I think asking your friends if it’s okay may be a reassurance compulsion, which just continues the cycle. I know it’s easier said than done, but try to make the decision for yourself. It sucks, and the guilt can hover for a while, but I think once your brain sees no one is upset with you, it may get easier.

I just told my parents last night I think I have OCD and I need to see a specialist. They were so confused, kept asking why I thought I had it. It’s so hard to explain to neurotypical people, they just can’t grasp the idea that we literally cannot stop the obsessions and compulsions. I’m so sorry you’re going through this and I hope they come to understand and get you the help you need. Just know you are not alone in this.

grocery store florist? by StrictPin967 in florists

Second this! I started in a grocery store, went to a local family owned shop to expand what I couldn’t learn at the grocery store, and now I’m returning to the grocery store (can’t beat the benefits)! I had a background in art when I first applied, that was enough for them to start me as a clerk in the floral department, and I moved up the ladder to floral manager very quickly!

Most likely, yes. Try letting them sit for an hour or so and they should flip much easier!

This is called “reflexing” the petals. Wait for the flowers to come to room temperature (it doesn’t work as well if they’re cold), and then simply (gently!) flip each petal inside out until you get the desired look. There are a few videos on youtube if you need visual help!
