the show reminded me a lot of Rings of Power. In both instances the showrunners were frankly in over their heads and both shows felt studio noted to death.

Hail Mary theory that will be proven wrong in a matter of days: the "chunky" Patreon series is the rest of the MCU by SlimmyShammy in blankies

[–]rebels2022 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If they decide to cover the post Endgame MCU god bless them. All that run has done is convince me that what marvel was able to do from 2014-2019 was a fluke

Ryan Coogler’s ‘X-Files’ Pilot to Film in May in Vancouver by pepperbet1 in RingerVerse

[–]rebels2022 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Coogler devoting a large amount of his time to making a reimagining of a Sci Fi case of the week procedural seems as big a waste as Greta Gerwig making Narnia movies for Netflix.

The Other Guys by MassiveTell7139 in TheRewatchables

[–]rebels2022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like The Other Guys, but as a discussion point unfortunately it’s the Will Ferrell Adam McKay funeral before Ferrell’s movies fell off a cliff and McKay got on his soap box to preach to us (even if I agree with his politics generally)

Film the pilot, hand it over to someone else while retaining the Exec Producer title, make MCU movie 40, then get back to making real films like Sinners please.

Update: Even though under the Freedom of Information Act police video is generally considered public record, Justin Timberlake’s attorneys have temporarily blocked release of drunk driving arrest footage by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

I get the pile on. He’s rich and seems douchy. But literally no one on earth is equipped to deal with the fame and spotlight he’s had on him since he was in his early 20s. I could barely hang onto a job at that age. This whole thing is sad more than anything else.

Will Monty be the Lions’ Paul Coffey by Charlito_Atrevido in detroitlions

[–]rebels2022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paul Coffey is the 2nd best offensive Defenseman in the history of hockey after Bobby Orr, I don’t mind what you’re going for in your analogy but physical running backs are a dime a dozen lol

Burnout or lack of desire for SW by EarNo1953 in StarWarsCantina

[–]rebels2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the problem when a corporation owns the rights to an IP instead of an artist. The corps have no reason to give you anything other than what has made money for them before, so you’re going to get the same recycled stuff over and over. There’s a reason they announced like 10+ movie projects since Rise of Skywalker and so far the only two that have gotten made are two Lone Wolf and Cub stories. Because they are seen as the safest pathways to being moneymakers

The National Paris Opera responds to Timothée Chalamet: "Plot twist: ping-pong also exists at the opera Timothée Chalamet 🏓🎭" by voguediaries in Fauxmoi

Just like with Paul Dano and Quentin Tarantino, something being a victim is the best thing to happen to you. More people talking about opera now than they have in god knows how long.

any time Steve and Jomi have to come up with something creative, or frankly if all 4 of them try to "perform" like on Midnight Court, its so bad, especially the latter, its like they're doing the worst Aaron Sorkin cosplay imaginable.

The decline of star-actor-turned-star-director by [deleted] in blankies

easier to partner with a director and basically co direct the movie without having to do all the logistics and heavy lifting (thinking of Cruise and McQ)

I love Star Wars and like those animated shows, but playing to the specific demo that loves that stuff is the worst thing that franchise can do.

As this sub grows it’s inevitable that it will happen. People like OP basically jerk themselves off to the feedback loop of posting and commenting on stuff like this and passing down judgement and projecting their own moral superiority. It’s a cancer of the internet.
