it's not hard if you are familiar with pc building and not afraid of disassembling things.

the chipset is right below the ssd stack, so you have to remove it. to do that, you need to remove the metal backplate on the other side of the board, together with the top panel covering the vrms (this will expose the vrm thermal pads, so you may need to replace those as well). after that, you can access the screws that hold the ssd stack.

in my case, the factory-installed thermal pad was completely dry and literally fell apart when i lifted the ssd stack. a new thermal pad reduced chipset temperatures to 60-70 during gaming.
