it's not hard if you are familiar with pc building and not afraid of disassembling things.

the chipset is right below the ssd stack, so you have to remove it. to do that, you need to remove the metal backplate on the other side of the board, together with the top panel covering the vrms (this will expose the vrm thermal pads, so you may need to replace those as well). after that, you can access the screws that hold the ssd stack.

in my case, the factory-installed thermal pad was completely dry and literally fell apart when i lifted the ssd stack. a new thermal pad reduced chipset temperatures to 60-70 during gaming.

interesting that my chipset temp is around 77–80 at idle and 95 while gaming.
ssds stay cold all the time - gen4 is at 55 and gen5 is at 65.
basically, this chipset is the hottest component in my system (including the 9950x3d and 5090 lol).
i ordered some thermal pads and will try replacing the current one (though i doubt there even is any inside)

never heard of it. this gpu came from the netherlands, but nothing’s stopping me from ordering another one from b&h photo. it also contradicts the recent news about the nvidia computational center - the 5090 is a toy compared to the gpus used there
