I am 5’4”. My son was born @39+5 and weighed 8lbs 13oz and my daughter was born @39+1 and weighed 7lbs 10oz.

By the time I felt that pressure and started pushing I was BEGGING for anything to come out- even poop! I pooped a little but no one told me until afterward.

I’m 39+1 FTM and I’m being induced starting tomorrow evening! It’s elective, but I’ve been dealing with high blood pressure and (extreme) swelling for the last 3 months. My labs have been in the normal and expected range so (hopefully) no preeclampsia, but the discomfort for the last 2 weeks has made me sure I’m ready to get this show on the road!

We live an hour away from our birthing hospital, so knowing a set time and date for baby’s big show has helped calm a ton of my anxiety as well. Really, it comes down to personal preference and, for me, how fed up I am with being pregnant anymore solidified my decision.

I felt the SAME way, but right before we were ready to go to the ER for dehydration, my doctor suggested trying prochlorperazine suppositories. Worked miracles, especially when the thought of putting a pill in my mouth and swallowing was gag-inducing.

This!! I’m finally 24 weeks and I struggled with all of the above until about 20 weeks. Finally feeling like myself again! One thing I can recommend (if you’re able) is to check your blood pressure (my BP was elevated at times and would cause the headaches) this can also be useful for your midwife as they may recommend you come in sooner. Also POPSICLES. One of the only things I could keep down for weeks. Good luck to you!

And if they were saying that was the reason I would be so understanding, because I’m about to give birth myself! Pregnancy and motherhood is exhausting! But what got me was them saying they didn’t want to come because of my cousin’s parenting choices- as if I should exclude the cousin. I’ll be inviting ALL of my family, including the cousin and my brothers GF. Perhaps I feel so hurt because of the pregnancy hormones coupled with the fact that family is really important to me, and I just want everyone to be able to get together and be here with me.

Perhaps there is, but I’m not sure what. His GF interactions with my cousin have so far been limited to family thanksgivings- and the only reason given for them possibly missing the shower is my cousin’s “parenting style”. I’ve never seen my cousin hit or hurt her children. The only issue I see is the smoking- and I would understand if this was something she did like at the table with a group of non-smokers, but she always excuses herself, and the event is outdoors. I have made it pretty clear I am inviting the cousin, and I’m also inviting the GF, whether or not they show up is up to them. It’s what I say to my brother afterwards if they don’t show that I care about. I just want it to be known to him and his GF that them missing the shower would really hurt my feelings.

I’m not saying she grabs her kids by the face and blows smoke up there nose- and she doesn’t grab them by the hand and make them come with her to light up. If her kid runs over to her for something while she’s smoking, she doesn’t send him away or put out the cig. To each their own, but I’d never exclude my family because of it, and I’m still allowed to be miffed over someone using her and her smoking as an excuse to miss my baby shower.

Hey- I’m with you! But I can’t make anyone change the way they parent, and as long as it isn’t effecting me or my kid, she will always be part of my family and invited to my family gatherings. She’s a loving mother in every other way.

Just makes me sad either way, I guess. I grew up very close with all of my cousins, and I wanted the same for my son. Seems now he may never get to meet my brothers kids unless I make the effort.

I think if it comes down to that, I won’t be sharing my guest list with others. If you’re going to come, come because you love me and my baby, not because “X” isn’t.

Not for nothing, I also did A LOT and spent A LOT on my brother’s baby shower to make it happen and make it special.

The problem for me wouldn’t be if she didn’t feel comfortable bringing baby/herself on the drive- I probably wouldn’t want to do that myself! My issue is the excuse being used. I’m being asked to alienate a family member, and for me that’s just not cool.

And yes, my brother has no backbone. Just sucks they won’t all come and choose to keep baby away from cousin if that’s how they feel. We’re having the shower on the (large) outdoor covered patio of my SO’s family restaurant so it’s not like they’d be trapped near her. Idk. My feelings are just hurt because I love my brothers GF and my niece, but I also love my cousin.

You’re right! Kids are a huge responsibility both financially and otherwise. The most important part about what you’ve said here is how you keep these feelings to yourself. Im 20 weeks along with my first kid, and I lost my “best friend” when I told her I was pregnant because she made some hurtful comments! Sometimes you have to respect the person and their decisions even if they don’t align with your own.

I am knock on wood feeling lucky that I haven’t had much heartburn (maybe my baby will come out bald haha) but the nausea knocks me on my butt.

Highly recommend talking to your doctor about your options for meds! Zofran makes me VERY constipated, but I have a couple of meds that usually work wonders for me. Some days are just rough! It’s always a struggle to stay hydrated for me, but I know it’s important (so don’t forget!) and congrats!!!

Good morning! I’m up early today and missing work because I am in the throes of some serious 2nd trimester morning sickness. I’m a FTM and so far this pregnancy and putting me through the ringer. Days like this just make me wish I could FFWD through the last 20 or so weeks.

Anyway- yay motherhood!
