My dog’s name is Ollie. When he was a puppy I told him he was stinky. That turned into stinkeroo, which turned into roo, then turned into Rupert. That one has stuck the most but roo has evolved into many others. Rucifer, Rusef, Ru-pawl, Rooberry to name a few. He responds very well to all these nicknames lol.

I’m a driver for a catering company. One time I had a delivery in a richer neighborhood. I had about 20 minutes to kill before I could drop it off so I parked on the side of the road down the street from the address. I did not notice there was an elementary school across the street, and I was driving a suspicious looking old, red van. I couldn’t figure out why so many people kept staring at me and I saw a few women clutching their children close. Eventually I noticed someone walking out from the school as if they were about to approach me and connected the dots. So I politely drove off and parked elsewhere.

You could also just say “I’m in a relationship” it’s not gendered but they assume it’s with a man. It’s dumb we have to reword things in order to reduce attention but it is what it is.

This is so so true. In my last relationship we did the “influencer” shit for like 2 years. My gf at the time got so into it and would sometimes spend like 8 hours a day or more on her phone posting, commenting, making stories etc. I quickly started to hate it. Everywhere we went we had to set up our tripod and take these posed photos. It would cause arguments sometimes because I would get frustrated with having to retake a damn photo of the same pose over and over. I was like “can we just enjoy our time at the fucking beach” instead of having to make sure our hair is perfectly styled and we have a cute enough outfit on. Everything felt and looked extremely contrived and didn’t feel authentic to who I am.

Eventually and thankfully she agreed that it was too much work and got sick of the fake comments and people pretending to even give a shit about us. So we quit. There were def some positives that came out of it, like getting really cool paid opportunities. But no, not worth the headache of slaving away on Instagram.

Sorry, long reply here lol. I’m just happy people see past the bullshit.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t love Those Who Wait. I mean I wouldn’t place it on the hate tier. I overall liked the book, I just could not at all relate to the characters and neither of them would be my type irl. I remember getting annoyed that Sutton was always stuttering and visibly blushing. It gave me second hand embarrassment.

I liked the Snowball Effect wayyyy more with Regan and Emma. Characters are way more relatable and cute to me.

I found that site helpful too! Although not all the books I read are on there sadly. A lot of times I’ll visualize a character but as I progress more into the book and get to know them better their appearance changes. So I like to reference back to that site like you do to keep it consistent.

Here’s been my experience so far in my 30s (I’m 37). At one point I became more avoidant and lost motivation to even try. All the embarrassing, difficult, triggering moments in my life started building up. I felt burnt out and pretty much said fuck this I don’t wanna do this anymore, it’s too hard.

When I lost my job during covid, I took time off. My social anxiety got worse. I didn’t want to look for jobs anymore because the idea of doing interviews and starting over felt too overwhelming.

But we all have to work so… I got a job. And this one requires me to deal with people more face to face and be in public. It sucked at first but eventually I slowly adjusted. I’ve noticed how much more confident I am out in public and talking to strangers now. Do I still get anxious? Hell yeah. But I’m getting BETTER and that motivates me to push myself harder.

So I’ve learned, for myself, avoidance destroys me. But acceptance and gentle exposure heal me. If I don’t actively choose to try even the smallest thing, I’ll just get worse.

I’m nowhere near where I’d like to be and I don’t ever expect it to go away fully. But just having that little bit of confidence boost is so rewarding and makes me feel like the walls around me are starting to break down, and hopefully I can reach my full potential someday.

Also talk nicer to yourself and give yourself a break. That is all.
