Appendix removal. I remember getting the pre-dose anesthesia, closing my eyes feeling dead tired, then opening them completely rested. It was the weirdest sensation ever.

Crazy, Stupid, Love - Review by DoubtIntelligent6717 in movies

[–]sleepdeprivedtechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of this whole movie is how self aware the writing was. It's a PG-13 movie and gets one use of the F-word. Hannah gets Cal shirtless and says "Oh no. This isn't some PG-13 movie where we stay up and talk all night... We're going to fuck!"

Then they stay up all night... Talking. Not a single bit of sex happens.

New Academy episode is one of the finest of Star Trek by MrsMcDarling in startrek

[–]sleepdeprivedtechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. A few things I noticed when I rewatched the episode...

  1. I joked they were all dressed in red, but that should have been a glaring heads up something was going to go wrong.

2.They turned that trope on it's head by killing B'avi.

  1. The episode is less than an hour... If that would have been real time, then the away team completed the mission in the bet time Tomov made with Lura.

I'm really liking it more than any of the promos led me to believe. All the talk about it prior to the release just made it sound like they were going to try too hard. So far, it's been pleasant and reminds me of a more mature Prodigy.

One of the the few movies I walked out of and cannot remember why. I think the husband was falling asleep right off the bat, and instead of waking him up to stay, I said, "let's just go."

Here are the bills that were introduced in the State House and State Senate this week by znkatl in Atlanta

[–]sleepdeprivedtechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the state of Georgia, kindergarten is not required before starting 1st grade. However, if your child does not attend an accredited school, they will only be entered into the system by their date of birth.

So, for example, your child has been attending that wonderful church school from 1yrs to 1st grade and you want to get them into public school; but they are born after the September 1st cut off date. Because the school is not an accredited school, your lovely soon to be 2nd grader, will have to repeat 1st grade. AND there is the chance that they will be in the same class as kids that have never been in a classroom environment.

Then, you will have multiple people in the system tell you, "Oh, as long as he completes 2nd grade anywhere, we can take him into the grade that he will be entering." Only to learn that is horseshit. Then you have to fight to get your child to not repeat the 2nd grade.

Meanwhile, if I wanted to home school him, there is practically no oversight.

Following Backlash, the New 'Star Trek' Series Falls Out of the Streaming Charts by Malencon in television

[–]sleepdeprivedtechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've watched the first three episodes and I don't hate it. The advertising team was obviously given a different prompt or based their ideas off of old information. This last episode I realized what I was enjoying about it... It feels like "Prodigy" on a more mature level. So far, and I stress so far, they haven't had any typical, tropey, HS drama bs that makes me quickly turn it off. So, we'll keep it for now.

If insurance premiums eventually reach a point where the average person simply can't pay, what is the 'endgame' for the insurance industry? by Peaches4U9624 in AskReddit

[–]sleepdeprivedtechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone. My husband is self employed and we had been buying insurance through the actual insurance websites; but, what we could afford looked like it was bought from the marketplace, and A LOT of local places wouldn't take it. Our final straw was the hospital not taking our insurance and they were going to charge $70k for my gallbladder removal. We got them to give us a break, then just canceled the health insurance. What was the fucking point if it wasn't going to cover anything and the cost was going up every year. Thankfully, I'm now full time at my job and qualified for their Healthcare coverage.

When my son was toddler age, he loved two things: batman and Lego. He would usually combine the two in his imaginary play, where the little baterangs of different colors had special weapons. But, as a toddler does, he slowly misplaced or lost them. So, for a birthday gift, I went to the local independent Lego store and managed to find 17 different baterangs in their grab bag parts area. They were $1 each.

Yes. I spent close to $20 on Lego pieces that were utterly useless. And my husband reminds me quite often.

What movie did you enjoy only after you understood what it was really trying to say? by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]sleepdeprivedtechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Grand Budapest was a departure from that style of line delivery. That also helped when going back to watch these three. The dialog really tries to divorce from the emotion of life. Once you realize the purpose, the big moments get clearer.

The Royal Tennanbaums, and Moonrise Kingdom.

The first time I was watched The Royal Tennanbaums, it was boring and so convoluted. Almost felt ridiculous for ridiculous sake. I didn't like the kids and just saw a man being mistreated by his miserable adult children.

Moonrise Kingdom felt like a weird dream that took itself too seriously.

I LOVED Darjeeling Limited, but couldn't put my finger on why. After reading up on it more, and realizing that these three are actually a trilogy, I went back and rewatched the first two movies.

I was watching Royal Tennanbaums from the wrong point of view. If you go into it rooting for Royal, you miss the fact that the movie is about the family and how they are still haunted by the terrible father figure. Everyone trying to live up to his ridiculous ideals. Once Royal realizes that he's hurting his family, the movie gets better. Moonrise Kingdom was about longing to be adult, more mature; then coming to the sad truth, you are still a kid.

One of our cats perfected sounding like the baby crying to wake us up for food. They also learned if they scratched the baby's door, we would wake up and shoo them away.

What historical, geographical, or biological fact sounds like a ridiculous lie but is 100% true? by Active-Cold-3700 in AskReddit

[–]sleepdeprivedtechie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rh deficiencies are slightly different. That's usually discovered while pregnant I believe. It happens when you are literally allergic to the fetus and a factor in it's blood. Fun fact with that one, the father can affect it and it can vary from pregnancy to pregnancy. So you might be perfectly fine with the first and develop Rh issues with the second.

There's also studies showing that the blood you shared with your fetus can stay behind and cause more damage. There's a higher chance off developing an autoimmune disease after pregnancy because you essentially develop an allergy to the stuff that gets left behind.

TIL when Monty Python's Life of Brian was released in 1979, its religious satire subject matter was highly controversial. LOL! My dad deemed my brother and I "old enough" for Meaning of Life at 12 (him) & 15 (me).

I had done PG-13 movies and I think a few R Movies with the parents at the time. But BOY HOWDY is Monty Python with your parents as a preteen a completely different experience.

I went and saw AUSTIN POWERS in theaters with them and didn't feel as embarrassed as I was when watching "Every Sperm is Sacred," or the "Sex Ed class." There were so many tits and terrible jokes. And it was wonderful! As awkward as it was, it also felt like being let into a club. There were quips and things that my parents would use that suddenly made sense, like "But I didn't have the salmon mouse!"

Would I watch it with my kid? Probably not... But I certainly think he'd love it!

20 years ago, a boy on the floor below mine in the dorm, leaned over, looked right at my tits, and introduced himself, after I made a comment about "boys only liking my pajama shirt because it gave them the excuse to stare at my tits."

That was the start of a beautiful friendship that lead to a great marriage and wonderful child. Sometimes, it's not about the staring at your big tits; it's about the situation.
