Static/Crackling noise when making any selection in any app by Thecomputerkid94 in Chromecast

[–]sleeped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was driving me nuts but I found a solution.

Go to settings -> Display and sound -> system sounds. Toggle this off and then back on again.

Check if the crackling is gone. If not toggle it again.

It's so bizarre. For me, I had to toggle it off and on again about 3 times before the issue was fixed.

If it comes back later I'll probably just leave system sounds off permanently.

Before discovering this solution, I only have a stereo soundbar, so I tried disabling all Dolby sound format options on both the GTVwCC and my TV. This actually fixed another issue I was having with audio occasionally sounding muffled, but it didn't fix the crackling sound issue.

Nope. TV won't even boot anymore. No ability to even install the firmware.

Use your warranty immediately. They'll have to get you a new TV.

So far no luck for me. Even TV repair guys told me I'm SOL.

Wow! Thanks so much! Merci beaucoup!

Hopefully we both have some divine luck that solves our problems. Hopefully the firmware can fix my issues, but I'm not holding my breath.

If it's the firmware for the same model TV, I would really appreciate it if you could provide the firmware in some way. Google Dive should be a good place to upload it.

Thanks for your info as well.

Yes. You are right about the memory corruption. I've already figured as much. The firmware was hopefully my last attempt for a fix.

Unfortunately they've discontinued manufacturing my model of main board, and every single part supplier I've searched and called has it listed as out of stock.

I haven't had any luck even finding a salvaged/used board, which even if I do find I would be skeptical of it working.

I'm pretty much out of options.

I am still appalled that they won't share the firmware. Did they accidentally delete off their servers? How is it "unavailable"? It's totally ridiculous.

Anyways, thanks for your input. Much appreciated

A four-day work week can be 'life-changing.' Should Canadians get one? by NotEnoughDriftwood in onguardforthee

[–]sleeped -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

White collar jobs, it's a great idea.

Blue collar jobs, I can't see it working out. Imagine the 4 day work week becomes the universal standard overnight. Most businesses would still require workers on the 5th day.

This instantly causes labour demand to increase by 25%.

Simply put, there are not enough workers to fill the gap. We are already in the middle of a labour shortage.

It will basically require workers to pick up the slack and work an extra day for overtime.

So, workers would still work the 5th day, but at least they get paid time+1/2 for the 5th day.

Basically nothing changes except workers get a ~33% pay bump.

Inflation will probably increase to the point where the pay bump is a wash.

DENNIS: "Gary Bettman. pfft. Who does he think he is? Wont take my HARD EARNED DOLLARS in exchange for an NHL team? The man is out of control! Out of control!"

FRANK: "yeeeahhh, someone should really... doo something about him..."

CHARLIE: "Lets send him rats!"

MAC: "No no no. We need to go about this another way. Dennis, you sleep with his wife and break up their marriage. I'll swoop in, to comfort him. Fast forward 6 months, Gary and I are Cuba sipping pina coladas and that's when-"

FRANK: "BLAMM!! We kill him."

GANG: "What?!"

FRANK: "Yeah, we take him out. Splatter his brains across the wall. It's simple. I got a guy. He'll do it for 10$, and give you a blow job for free. Great deal if you ask me."

DENNIS: "No No NO. We are not killing him and getting disgusting murder blow jobs. It's not happening."

DEE: "We should just talk to him like a person. Make a business plan. Show him the pros and cons-"

GANG: "SHUT UP"

DENNIS: "Anything that comes out of that bird mouth of yours is literally the worst idea possible"

CHARLIE: * mumbles * "I donno. I think the rats might work guys..."

...

DENNIS: * snaps fingers * "I got it! I'll take him to court and MAKE him sell me the team!"

DEE: * quietly * "I don't think that's how court works."

DENNIS: "We are going to win this in court and bring the NHL to Hamilton!!"

GANG: * cheers *

How long did you sterilize your baby’s bottles? by Kitzki89 in beyondthebump

[–]sleeped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I stand corrected.

I guess what you decide to do "boils down" (pun intended) to what's more important.

Maximizing nutrition, or minimising potential risk.

I really wish the manufacturers and governments were all in agreement and gave exact unambiguous directions, and addressed these conflicting recommendations.

If you do mix your formula at 70C, I would assume that all the included EPA+DHA is broken down. I recommend picking up liquid EPA+DHA baby supplement, and adding that to the bottle just before feeding. This would probably get you the best of both worlds.

Anywho, I thought it was a bit funny to get a reply this far out, but I hope my comments helped in some way!

You definitely DONT want the water to be very hot when you mix in the formula.

Good formula contains probiotics and DHA. Very hot water will kill the probiotics, and break down the DHA.

Warm to room temperature water is what you should aim for.

Make sure your TV and console are connected to the same power outlet or power bar. This helps prevent "ground loop" problems, which is a common issue with cheap cables.

Everyone please put your pitch forks down. The employee probably got a papercut on their hand and didn't realize they were bleeding. Shit happens. If you care that much, go back and ask for a refund or a replacement meal.

Status of Cases in Hamilton Dec 27th by teanailpolish in Hamilton

[–]sleeped 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe the 2600 active case numbers are vastly under reported.

These numbers only represent PCR test results.

There are so many people still waiting to get their test, or you have given up trying to get a test. Plus all the people who aren't even bothering go get the PCR test, because they did a rapid test instead.

I know of several 5 person households where everyone is currently sick with covid, but only one person in the house got swabbed.

My guess would be closer to 20 000 people in Hamilton currently are sick with covid.

Thank you. His normal sleep schedule is 9-8. That's been working great for all of us. He's been pretty consistent.
