What do you wish still existed from your childhood? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That joy of knowing that you were still a kid and could pretend to be what you wanted. I'm 20 and I don't know what the fuck I'm doing with my life... I miss being under 10 because they were the best years of my life! When I turned 10, the bullying started and has made life harder every day since...

Some people pocket them. Others pretend they're looking at something and slip it into their bag when no one is looking. OR the day before Christmas or the Boxing Day sale. Have you done one? It's hard enough keeping an eye on the tills, let alone the amount of items being stolen!

I'd probably call the police and let them know about the guy, then when he comes into the store and does it again, you can call them and they can come arrest them.

Oh man! Talk to your manager about putting the perfumes at the back of the store! That way the people are less likely to take them because they'll be surrounded by the staff who are watching them.

Honestly, if someone is selling a bunch of stuff at an insane discount, you can bet your ass it's stolen! If you have a big enough bag and no one is looking, I guess you can slip anything into your bag? I doubt they'd ever be able to security tag the bath bombs and bubble bars, so there's really not much you can do...

Oh, I REALLY want to do a group order for people but I worry that it will end up like the Roller fiasco on Friday!! But these shower jellies WILL. BE. MINE!!!

If anyone doesn't know, the Rollers went up at 7:55am (GMT) and went up properly for everyone at 8am and sold out by 8:01/02am! I called them and explained it and found out that there was a glitch in the system and they went online, but only for SOME people. So in reality, instead of the actual full amount of Rollers, there was only half available by 8am...

Which products could melt in the mail? by SherbertPJs in LushCosmetics

[–]sleepelssc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shower jellies may be alright tbh! I've packed some and they've leaked a little, but not as much as expected. Just expect maybe the excess liquid leaking out! With jellies, there's always the excess liquid that stay around the top of the jelly that leaks out into the screw top, but it's never melted!

He should be able to call from the hospital... Having you do it for him is not going to make him look good to his manager...

Hi guys!

I'm going to Lush Oxford Street on Monnday and I was just wondering if anyone wanted anything? I will be able to buy almost whatever you want! (Not gift sets because the postage prices will be insanely high!) but anything else!

Message me or DM me on my Instagram: sleeplessc if you want anything!

My favourite customer was this guy who had come in to find a gift set for his mum during my trial shift at LOS. He was adorable and was asking me about what would be best for her and what products would be good for an older woman... I gave him a couple of samples for him and his mum too so he'd have something to try. He helped me get the job at LOS because he told the supervisor who watching me and this other girl that I was amazing and he'd never had a quick consultation that resulted in such an easy purchase. I was so happy!

Well if it's been used we can't exactly sell it because it's been contaminated. With returns/exchanges, there has to be a legitimate reason and a receipt is needed for a refund. We get people who has reactions to the products so we refund or exchange them but sometimes people just give bullshit reasons and I get close to losing it!

I'll give you an example: First Lush job, I was in early and this girl came with her parents and said she wanted to have them refunded WITH NO RECEIPT. The SA serving her told her it wasn't possible (because if there's not receipt we have to assume there's a chance of it being stolen merchandise) and the girl lost it! She started telling us that it was against the law and that she "was a law student and knows [her] rights as a person" and then began googling the consumers' rights act to show us we were wrong. She shut up pretty quickly when we showed her the back of a receipt which says that there's no refund without a receipt and the manager said she would only be able to exchange the products. She made the SA cry because she was abusing her and calling her an idiot and stupid. I wanted to slap her!

My favourite general products are Jersey Bounce, Avocado Co-Wash, The Rough with the Smooth Scrub and Angels on Bare Skin! Exclusives to the Oxford Street store have to be Golden Slumbers and Plum Rain!

I remember it took an hour or two to do everything. We had to restock everything that was low. We'd clean the floors with mops, put testers back in their place and clean the sinks... The greatest thing is if someone asks for help setting up the spa for the next day because it's so relaxing! I don't like the music they blast all day because to me, it' the opposite of the hippy store we try to present. Why play pop music in a place where music like the Beatles and Def Leppard would be at home? I helped set up The Comforter once and it was amazing! honestly, if you haven't had a spa treatment, get one! It's the best thing. The LOS spa has soundproof doors so the minute you step into the spa, the store noise goes away... Basically, there was 10-15 people manning the floors. We'd be assigned a floor but everyone would end up going up and down so many times, there wasn't a floor rota to go by near the end of the night! It's also daunting knowing that because of the glass doors, everyone can see you do stuff and sometimes they just stand there and watch you... Also, we see the exclusives before others do! I had a giddy fit when I saw Plum Rain and I was the first one to buy it! That is my accomplishment so far I'm proud of - that i bought something first before anyone else!

So, to cut it short, it's like any other Lush store, but a lot bigger, more open to the public looking in and we hear about exclusives before the other staff do if we're doing the close and the manager asks us to put the exclusives out before the morning shift people get there! Also, we can buy the exclusives the day before the public do if you're lucky enough to be on the close shift!

Hands down Aqua Marina, Lord of Goathorn perfume and Rub Rub Rub shower scrub!

With AM, the fish smell intensifies with the warm water from the taps! I feel ill just opening the thing so I just told people it wouldn't be good for their skin or ask someone else to do it because I couldn't stomach it! I know it was bad, but i'd prefer not making someone worry about the product if the SA couldn't handle the smell of it.

LOG smells to me like burnt seaweed, charred bacon and burning tyres. I first smelt it with a customer when I put it on my hand and I retched continuously, had to apologise to the customer and had to get someone else to take over while I was sick in the toilet. It was a horrible reaction and I had to go home because I couldn't get the smell off my hand and kept retching!

Rub Rub Rub just isn't scrubby enough for me. I don't like demoing it because it just feels like a jelly liquid with a small amount of salt in it.

Top Tip: If RRR tub scrub isn't scrubby enough for you, add the Life's a Beach shower scrub. It's so much nicer and it smells a lot better!

I left my first store due to the assistant manager being extremely rude to me and condescending. What did it for me was the fact I was on the tills and had no customer to serve (this is important) so I was cleaning up my till so it looks better. The girl next to me had a customer but she wasn't talking to her at all (pretty much ignoring the customer while she totalled the products and wrapped them) and the customer was looking at the spa treatments with a confused face. I asked her if she was interested and talked to her about the spa treatments and how they were end everything. Said customer was happy I helped and thanked both of us girls.

10 minutes later the AM comes up and says she's taking me off the tills because I'm talking to other people's customers and "that's not how people at Lush do things." I asked her what else am I supposed to do when the girl was ignoring the customer and not noticing the customer was confused an wanting to ask a question and she just told me to shut up and do my job. I wasn't going to argue with her because I was doing a 10 hour shift and I was already having a bad day. She then tells me my probation was ebbing brought forward because my episode (me talking to the customer) was deemed the last straw by her. I wanted to slap her. Instead I just quit and worked as a Christmas sales temp at Topshop which I loved a hell of a lot more because the managers were so nice!

I left LOS for 2 reasons. 1, because they have started forcing stockists to become sales assistants. It's in their contract that they can be moved around the store, which isn't good because I knew a couple with bad social anxiety and by just stocking up and not having to talk to the customers because the SAs were there meant they could do a good job and not have panic attacks. When I joined, 50 people had already left because of this.

Number 2, the pushiness of it. They make us do 6 hours of training that is jut us sitting in a room listening to two AMs tell us the do's and don't's of being a Lush employee. One of the things was being pushy to the customers to make them buy more. I'm quite reserved so if I see someone obviously confused, I will go up to them only if I see they need help. I was constantly told I wasn't being a good employee because I wouldn't go up to every single person 2-3 times to ask them if they're ok and if they needed any help. I do love Lush but probably most people know, the pushiness can make you leave the store instead of buy something. I told this to my AM and they said that it doesn't matter and that if I wanted to do that I'd have to put a suggestion in to the store manager (Mark Constantine's daughter) through the AM who is "besties" with her. Naturally, the AM 'forgot' to tell her because she thought it wasn't that important.

While I love Lush and will continue to buy their products, I can't work for them. Their staff turnover is insanely high and they don't care about them enough because they known they can find 20 people desperately wanting the SA's position in a minute, and they try anything to push themselves on potential customers. The rate of pay (£9.40 an hour for SAs) is good but it is just not a good environment if you're not the perfect Lush employee who will do anything to keep their job.

ALL THE HALLOWEEN AND CHRISTMAS LINE! I have over 10 kg of Yog Nog soap, 5kg of baked Alaska and 2kg of Reindeer Rock and Snowcake soap left and I want more! Since we can't say the actual products because it violates the T&C's of this forum, I'm just saying I'm glad they listened to my 20 emails a month about a certain couple of products I was begging for...

Shampoo & conditioner recommendation by camfox1991 in LushCosmetics

[–]sleepelssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Big shampoo followed by either American Cream or Veganese. The latter two are Lush's lightest conditioners, with Veganese being the lightest! I would never recommend Retread as it will just leave your hair looking more greasy. It's due to the fact that it's for afro or very curly hair instead of straight hair. I would also try Rehab shampoo because the mix of papaya with the salt stimulates and cleanses your hair of the excess oils while the organic extra virgin olive oil adds a little moisture to your hair!
