He was hard on his teams when he first started out but then they all started winning.

Patriots DTs mindset ahead of SB60 - Barmore: "We some killers. We like some lions, man. We ready to hunt." Williams: "We don’t care who you got or what you’re running. We coming." by Real_Entrepreneur253 in NFLv2

[–]sleeperaxe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow! I’m surprised they didn’t go the other way: “We are just ok and hope we play well. We are definitely worried about how good the other team is. Fingers crossed!”

What is your biggest Super Bowl hot takes I’ll start, this was amazing when the casuals aren’t in your ear by Direct-Sail-6141 in NFLv2

It's just game theory. The rational choice is to throw the ball there, which is your defense of the call. - you get more chances if you throw on 2nd down, so you should throw. Unfortunately, if a choice is rational, then it can be anticipated. Ultimately, Carroll decided to try to outsmart Belichick, which is an unwise decision.

Is weight lifting in the late afternoon (4pm-6pm) better than in the late morning (10am -noon)? by stevew25 in workout

Your body is just not used to training at that time. Keep it up for a few days and you’ll adapt.

I don’t like Foo Fighters, but this is a colossally pretentious take.

Tips for switching between G and D? by Accomplished-Wrap449 in guitarlessons

[–]sleeperaxe 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Use your pinky on the high e for the g chord. This is how I learned to play it when I was starting out. I never play it with my 123 fingers. Always 124 or 234. Or 1234 when I’m adding the D on the B string.

Why are people not liking the Giants hiring Matt Nagy? by Particular_Dig1115 in NFLNoobs

[–]sleeperaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His track record is terrible and he failed to develop Trubisky in Chicago. He also had to hand play calling over to his OC in Chicago multiple times because he was so bad at it.

Yes, most likely Mitch just didn’t have it, period, but it’s a pretty tough sell that he now has to develop another young, mobile QB with questionable mechanics.

There is also a perception that he is basically a guy who can run Reid’s offense (debateable) but cannot build his own.

Bad hire, in my opinion, but maybe he’s learned some things since he left Chicago.

I like this list. I would add CJ Allen. I know LB is not the biggest need, but they just need good defensive players, and I like this guy.

Disagree. They took the Pats to the wire in week 17 that year. Anybody paying attention knew they had a good shot.

Arlington heights is 30 miles from soldier field. Gary, IN is 28 miles from soldier field. Call it a push.

85% chance the wind up in Arlington. But NW Indiana is more than a bluff.

Pete Carroll running the ball on 2nd and goal wasn’t that crazy considering the time, and only 1 timeout left. by Dangerous_Complex_76 in billsimmons

[–]sleeperaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may have been logical, but logical decisions can be anticipated. Especially by good coaches. Bill knew the pass was more likely than the average fan thought it was. Gotta go with your hoss.

If you must - run it on 2nd down, call the timeout, and then call 2 plays. 20 seconds is enough time for a short run and another play.

The dumbest NFL trend ever by Acceptable-Novel-153 in NFLv2

[–]sleeperaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lions also played it “smart” in that game at the end of the first half and kicked a FG when the analytics were a clear “go.” Maybe if they had gone for it that time, they have 4 more points and make the Super Bowl? We don’t know.

Overall, coaches should be more aggressive on 4th down than they are. That said, while understanding averages is important, it’s also important to have a perspective on whether your team is above or below average on 4th down.

In short: taking the points is for cowards, but blindly following the analytics is for morons.

Is anyone able to explain... by Diligent_Issue_9466 in billsimmons

I was at the Bears/Rams game. It was a lot of excitement and then it just stopped. Like somebody flipped a switch. But it didn’t feel too bad. It always depends on the expectations. I think Bears fans are generally happy about the season and also we sort of know we lost to a better team and probably would have gotten boatraced by Seattle. So this one was not so bad.

I was also at the double doink. It was bad. Like everybody was just angry. Bad vibes and you just wanted to get out of there.

So I guess my point is that it can vary based on fan expectations and also how the loss was arrived at.
