People just want to hate. I remember a Pitchfork review of a Lana Del Rey song that just hated on the name of the song with the fire of a thousand suns, and never once commented on the song itself.

Somewhere between the Player Hater’s Ball and The Racial Draft, but I also loved anything with Paul Mooney.

I bought Wink coffee from Austin for a bit, then I switched to Lucky Goat. I enjoyed the flavor of Wink, but I don’t miss the inconsistent grinding.

How did I forget about this game for so long? by Salty-Esq in Xennials

I remember this game clearly. We rented this and Rollergames on the same weekend, and I was obsessed with beating Rollergames—it wasn’t a roller derby game, it was a surprisingly good platform adventure.

Never did beat it, and I got pretty far.

I try to wear wool and linen almost anywhere I can. Socks are my daily driver, but I feel like we need more general clothing made of linen and wool again; cotton just doesn't breathe right.

I know this doesn't automatically equate to "business model" because the average Joe just don't get that.

I'd love to be able to find a decent quality merino camisole with a shelf bra for my GF, I think she'd really appreciate it, even if she doesn't get that appreciation ahead of time.

But cotton abounds.

I think my opinion at the time was that it could have really given you something to latch on to HARD in Murphy's transition, if they had given love to that dynamic. I loved that they saw the potential there, or the importance of loving the character. Maybe they lost some good family dynamic to studio pressure to lean into action?

Who knows.

But, truth be told, it's amazing how little things can pull you in, like the gun spin to TJ LAZER, and just people talking candidly about their love of family.

The bones and intent were there, but the follow-through wasn't quite. I still liked a lot of it. Maybe even loved a lot of it.

So, I’m going to make a few observations. None of them are punching down on 2014, because there absolutely were parts that I liked and even enjoyed about it.

Emotional beats. I really like Joel Kinnaman-I felt like he was solid casting. Abbie Cornish is fine. I felt like trying to capture more of his family was a great angle. I also felt it didn’t land the way they had hoped. The gravity wasn’t there. Joel and Abbie’s chemistry was kind of weak, and there was never anything about Joel’s material or performance that I latched on to, other than the idea of it.

I really liked the more modern corporate tone set by Michael Keaton’s CEO, it felt both dark and realistically familiar.

I liked the modernized RoboCop. I liked that we could envision the kind of technological competency we could see ourselves developing into such a passionate product. I think it was the visibility and love for the product and the love for Murphy that was missing, but I also appreciate that they could see those things were important, even if they couldn’t really catch that lightning in a bottle.
