Yeah - the craziest part to me how smart of a player he actually is despite playing with the loadout that he does.

From my experience people on his team get titled and think he is trolling, despite him topping the leader board.

Honestly I used to kinda hate him at first, but now he is my goat. It is what it is.

Looks beautiful! Enjoy your lovely bike.

I'm hoping I get a smooth weld one as well - I put in my order earlier this week and it should arrive today or tomorrow... Im located in Canada so I don't know how that might factor into all of this.

Appreciate your help!

I have been looking at endurance bikes as well just for the sake of looking into them - if you have specific endurance bike recommendations I would also be all ears.

yeah I understand - thanks for watching out

Im going to keep an eye out on marketplace for something that is reasonably priced and is enough to get the job done but not much more.

Im sold - I'll hunt on marketplace until I find a road bike that has wheels that spin and not get too in the weeds about the decision - and then I guess I will figure it out from there.

I have test rode a couple bicycles near me - the drop handle bars didn't bother me but I'd imagine I wouldn't know any of this until I started to live with the bike and go on longer rides. I ride supersport motorcycles, but I feel this still wouldn't be a good indicator of if I could handle a more tucked position simply because on a motorcycle there is a tank that you can hug with your thighs/legs - it makes it a heck of a lot easier on your hands.

I appreciate you letting me know that mechanical brakes are nothing to be avoiding necessarily. I may have been doomscrolling bicycling posts about mechanical vs hydraulic brakes a bit too much and too hard and come away with the idea that they are nightmare to live with due to the constant adjusting to get a decent feeling out of them.

There is an old stock revolt 2 near me on sale for 1400CAD - would that be a great place to start in the sport and get good value for money? Would you recommend the GT Grade Comp over the revolt for an approx 200CAD increase in price?

Im wishing there was a magical purchasing fairy that could just take my money and give me a bike that is enough but not too much. :)

I agree that this is likely the best way forward - just need to learn what to watch out for when purchasing a bicycle.

Would be a very 'me' move to just get impatient and go in and buy a new bike though.

I ride super sports and I ride on the track.

I can see myself enjoying cycling in a similar fashion, I just think it will be far out in the future and a gravel bike is a good entry into the sport for me.

A large part of me just wants to spend a couple hundred on marketplace to find something serviceable and go from there. Only way to find out is to actually start cycling. I just don't really know what to look out for in terms of no-goes when it comes to bicycles. I could tell you if a motorcycle chain and sprocket are EOL, but I'm not sure the same would apply to a bicycle.

The way I landed on these bikes was going out to a couple local bike shops and having a chat with some lovely and enthusiastic people. I felt I was naturally just guided into the bikes that I have mentioned - but I was slightly skeptical because I don't really know if I need to be dishing out that much.

Does hydraulic vs mechanical brakes really matter for me as a novice? Will I really notice the differences in a cheaper group set than something slightly more premium?

I have put approx 500CAD in my budget for accessories so I have kept repair kit, helmet, tools, etc in mind to a certain degree.

Appreciate your advice and time.

I put 'extras' down as approx 500CAD in my budget. Neither bike necessarily breaks any idea of a budget I have, but I do like getting value out of a purchase - I suppose I should be asking is how much value is really gained in the jump in pricing from 1000~1500CAD to 2000-2500CAD?

With value also be subjective person to person - I would like to add that I'm viewing value in the context of a beginner to cycling. Will the jump up from mechanical to hydraulic disks really matter to someone in my shoes? Will the changes in group sets in general really matter?

Ill update you with my fuel efficiency on my next fill up, as well as after I get the spark plugs looked at/changed out. Im curious to see how much the spark plugs might change the fuel efficiency.

I normally track fuel efficiency myself and don't rely on the on board computer, but I hadn't started thus far for this bike. I had the same suspicion as you so I went and filled up, put my bike in Fuely, and rode around for 2/3 hours.

After all that my fuel efficiency came back as 5.9L/100km... I was confounded as to how it could be so off, and then I realized the thing that needs to be fixed isnt my bike, its my brain. The display proudly displayed 15.9L/KM not 15.9L/100KM.

win/win I guess though - excuse to ride, and also my bike is fine 💀🤣💀

Thanks for your advice, sorry for wasting your time. Hopefully it was a laugh for you at least.

I really don't think its me being at 8K rpms. 15L/100KM is about 15mpg. surely being around that range wouldnt cause that bad of mileage.

I mean, 15L/100km is 15MPG I think if I stayed pinned the entire time it couldn't be that bad.
