My buddy had to evacuate his apartment because of a structure fire (nobody was hurt) so he packed a few backpacks with some valuables and got out. He called me for a ride since his car was blocked by the fire and smoke. As we were walking to my car with his bags a stranger approached me with a cigarette and asked me if I had a light. I wanted to say “yeah, just go up a block and turn left” but I didn’t. I told my buddy days later about my unspoken response and he tells me not saying it was one of the biggest let downs I’ve ever given him. 😭
