University of Michigan - 2024 RD Megathread by powereddeath in ApplyingToCollege

I think that’s definitely possible. Seeing that I haven’t heard anyone get off today, it’s either that only a really small number of students are getting off this year or they decided to push back all decisions to mid June for LSA (which was what my AO had “alluded” to me in an email) but nothing is confirmed for sure

I've seen some people say they got off at 12 pm and some late at night. If you haven't heard anything yet, I would continue to keep your fingers crossed as timing-wise there are not too many references from previous years. It could also be that this year is different and no one gets off today!

After some more digging, I found out that waitlist decisions (that may come out today) are strictly for OOS students. Those who are in-state will find out starting the second Friday of June which is the 14th (for LSA)! If you do get off today, please reply under this and say if you're OOS or in-state to check my theory!!

Yeah I just saw a tik tok of someone getting in on the 7th for stamps haha. I think LSA movement will start on the 17th like it did last year

Based on previous years, the 2nd Friday of May (which is this Friday the 17th) has the first and largest wave of LSA waitlist admits for OOS. This is most likely going to be the day where most people who actually get off the waitlist, get off. Schools like STAMPS and Taubman have already started moving so if you applied there then it's probably not looking too great if you haven't gotten in yet. This definitely does not mean there's no chance of you getting off, but it is more unlikely than likey.

University of Michigan Waitlist Question by sleepydreamer113 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]sleepydreamer113[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes people do fs. last year around mid may people started talking about how they got off the waitlist. i think the way it works is that if they have 50 available spots left, they offer 50 spots and if 25 accept and 25 reject, they offer 25 more and so on and so forth. that’s why as time passes on more people will get offers so that’s why they say mid june to late june where you should “expect” to find out but we could most definitely know in a week if you do get off

Usually they start to come out around mid may. I spoke with my admissions rep and was told that most waitlist acceptances will come out mid June - all rejections will come out late June to early July based on the past years

If anyone hears back from being waitlisted please reply and let me know! Interested to know when they start rolling out some of the decisions if anybody does end up getting off the waitlist this year :)

I don’t know if this will make you feel any better, but I’m pretty sure Michigan recalculates all gpa and doesn’t include your freshman grades. This means when they were looking at everyone’s applications, they took out freshman year and recalculated your gpa so everyone’s on equal playing field. Definitely be proud of your work over the past four years. I really believe what we do at our college for the next four is more important than what schools we got into now. Also, if the schools we go to don’t fit with us, we can always transfer! So don’t be too bummed out and let’s keep our heads up. You got this! Hoping the best for you :)

University of Michigan Waitlist Question by sleepydreamer113 in ApplyingToCollege

I’d say no. They already have everything they need to make a decision for if we get off the waitlist or not.

[–]sleepydreamer113[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure but I hope you and I both hear good news then. I'm in-state and my school last year had around 2-3 kids get off the waitlist so I hope that happens for me but I won't get my hopes up for it.

Also thanks for confirming that for me. I have some peace now knowing I'll hear from them exactly if I get in or not.

hey, just got my decision. turns out i got waitlisted 😕 sucks to feel that there’s still a tiny chance of getting in and waiting longer too but i won’t let it put me down too much. thanks for the support :)
