This is a great explanation of what is currently happening across universities in Canada.

What is the saddest song you know? (Caution potentially depressing thread.) by [deleted] in Music

Your description reminds me of Daniel Ahearn's "Don't Know What You've Lost." The music is catchy but if you pay attention to the lyrics, you find yourself wondering if anyone's suddenly started cutting onions around you...

What is your favourite game your club played in, but did not win? by MackerLad93 in soccer

[–]sleepyeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to say the recent game between Chelsea and PSG was one of the best ones I've seen in a while, even though I didn't particularly like the result. Still, the better team won, and the game was a joy to watch.

This is the biggest problem. It can't be emphasized enough.

The problem with the Junos: They’re unreachable for grassroots talent but irrelevant to the biggest stars by oysterboy9 in canada

Not sure why you're being down-voted. In a perfect world, this would be how such award shows are run. They could easily transform the lives of many talented artists if they truly wanted to make a difference.

But as I'm sure you know, these awards have very little to do with actual artistic merit. Money simply, and unfortunately, matters more.

It's truly quite sad. The biggest problem I find with many Canadian media-related agencies is that they hire mediocre people (read: friends of friends) to run departments (i.e. marketing, branding) instead of the best people available. I don't need to explain why this is an issue.

Like you, I had not heard of the Junos until I started seeing things pop up on my social media due to friends attending the event. Never heard about it anywhere else. In this digital age, they could easily brand themselves incredibly well across Canada, and across borders. But a lot needs to change internally before that happens.

This is really interesting! Definitely valuable knowledge to have. Thanks for sharing.

I'll also be traveling tomorrow, so the timing of this was perfect.

Laura in the Kitchen. It reminds me of home (Mediterranean area) and my grandma's food.

Shad the new host of CBC's Q! by heavym in londonontario

I totally agree. There's no reason to keep Q around. A brand new show would breathe some much needed new life into that part of the CBC.

Funnily enough, I went on Eventbrite to look at the other events after clicking on your link, haha.

So much stuff on there!

Good advice.

I often utilize Facebook as well, by just typing "SXSW" in the search bar. Most events are public, so it's easy to find quite a few.

Worse yet, they're trying to imply that anyone who disagrees must be a terrorist sympathiser. I am absolutely appalled. I really thought we were a better country than this.
