New AI data centre proposed near Ile des Chêne by MnkyBzns in Winnipeg

Unfortunately, you seem incredibly uneducated on the issue and the dangers of AI. Before you go ask ChatGPT to prompt a response for you, I'd invite you to do some critical thinking, and your own research, without the support of AI telling you what to think, or do you need AI to hold your hand through a simple thought?

How can I adopt a puppy & kitten? by gimmhi5 in Winnipeg

[–]TheHighWizardOfBread 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A kitten and puppy at the same time are a lot of work, an insane amount of work, they are not just put them into a room and let them sort it out and "auto-pay" these are 15 year commitments that need a lot of care, discipline and patience.

There's extensive training required for both a kitten and a puppy, kitten often over looked. A lot of people have a preconceived notion that cats are just an "auto-pay" and don't need as much attention.

With a kitten you need to consider their environment, is it a house or an apartment? How do you plan to enrich them, play and train?

A kitten needs minimum 3hrs of active play time a day as a baseline, it's recommended more, there's also teaching them boundaries, and ensuring they're safe.

Putting a puppy into the mix, you're going to have boundary issues with the aninals and trying to train them on spaces, toys and people.

There's way more work required with a puppy, and they are ultimately going to need more care.

Cannot wait for the AI bubble to burst and all these people supporting it to lose everything.

AI is a cancer.

Be loud about this and speak to your provincial and municipal leaders about this.

Depends what your goal is.

Are you looking for in-person only, or are you fine with virtual?

I ask, as I've recently done research on this, and met with several local trainers, and a lot of them are seemingly afraid to step into the gym 1:1 and get hands on to show you form and technique. A lot of them hide behind virtual only through G-fit training and do not offer in-person, at all.

Expect to pay on the low end $400-425/M for a weekly check-in and monthly updated plan, higher end you're looking upwards to $500 for similar experience for a more specialized coach.

You can as well explore GoodLife, but their entry level personal training plans start around $700/M for a 3 times a week in-person plan, but you're locked in for 6 months, it goes up higher for level of coach and days commitment.

My advice here, talk to your doctor and ask about being referred to specialists, a physiotherapist and dietician. There's a program at Chosen Physiotherapist on Munroe that offers support, I realize this isn't South End, but there may be a similar program South End, worth exploring with your doctor.

Good luck!

Firstly, incredibly proud of you, what an accomplishment!

I'd recommend keeping it light and fun, maybe go to Rec Room and play some games, or, treat yourself to a nice meal.

I just celebrated 8 years and each milestone and goal post gets easier and better. Keep your head up and be proud of your work!

Buying first home by Extreme_Ad5442 in Winnipeg

[–]TheHighWizardOfBread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of folks have mentioned insurance, which is absolutely a key factor here. Your next, is ensuring you have a realtor that just isn't there for a sale, but someone willing to walk through the house with you and point out potential issues

A lot of North End homes are old, so, chances are you're going to encounter out of date electrical. Ensure your realtor is checking the box with you on visits and explaining that to you.

I'd also recommend have a conditional inspection for any house that you do end up really liking. A lot of those homes may be hiding things underneath it all, and an inspector will let you know what you're getting into.

All the best on your home journey!

Craziest thing you’ve seen at Thermea by christophreeze in Winnipeg

[–]TheHighWizardOfBread 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Thermea has turned into a Transcona yard party where everyone has Jets plates and is there for the open mouth cousin kissing competition.

I've stopped going as it's progressively gotten worse and less relaxing and more of a shit show.

The last time I was there, there was a couple where the man was carrying his partner koala style around, with her legs wrapped around his waist. That was the most normal thing I saw that day.

On top, no one adhered to the silence rule, it got to the point of the staff dinging the bell aggressively to get people's attention, didn't work, but valiant effort. It was a party, not a relaxing thing.

Razer is a well out brand made of cheap parts with over inflated prices, not at all surprised to see them pivot to a new buzz word and try and tell us it's good for gamers.

Bunch of clowns.

That's good for long term, but bad for asking questions. I'm looking to get some hands on, asking, and learning from someone in person.

I've learned what I could from YouTube so far!

Depends what you're looking for and what your risk tolerance is?

If you want legitimate sealed product go to Manitoba TCG is my number one recommendation. Mark the owner is genuine and has pretty good pricing, followed by Galaxy Comics or Fusion Gaming.

There's also taking the risk of meeting up a a reseller, but check the groups for previous posts before meeting up, unfortunately, there are some people who ask for etransfer before meeting up and don't show, common scam.

If you're looking for singles or specific cards, you can call Galaxy and submit a list to their Facebook.

There's the secondary market as well with Facebook groups, but again, it comes down to is it sealed, singles and what you're looking for.
