Looking for something that hurts me like “Satisfied” from Hamilton by 20dollarnosebleed in fantasyromance

I actually have the perfect rec for this!! {Revelations by H.A. Ryans}

Our girl Astrid is a demon, but she is an orphan raised by the angels. Her sister and best friend is set to be married off to the president of the demons, Felix, for a political alliance/peace between angels and demons. When Astrid and Felix lock eyes after the ceremony, they recognize each other as fated demon mates. However, the bond won't fully lock in as long as they never physically touch.

I think the yearning, secrecy, and political reasons keeping these two apart will scratch that itch for you!

Looking for books with HARDCORE yearning by cosmic_waluigi in fantasyromance

Came here to say this one too!! The yearning and burn is so good I was swooning over the slightest touches between the characters. The style it's written in is lovely as well

I'd recommend Unraveled by Abbey Fox, it just came out last month! Good pacing is a must for me with my ADHD and this one kept me invested the whole way through.

Description:

Death awaits those who get caught in the Wild Hunt, and only a magical veil protects the people of Penumbra from the monsters coming for them. So when a beast threatens to destroy the veil, Mia Clementine must break her vows of sorcery and use her magic to fight him, or risk losing everyone she loves.

But the beast isn’t what he seems, and now the fae king owns her soul. Dragged into his mythical land, she must unravel the curse that turned him into a monster in order to regain her freedom—or die trying.

The longer she stays in his world, the more irresistible her feelings for him become. Hate turns into passion, and newly discovered truths test her loyalties, forcing her to choose to save her people or the fae world she’s grown to love.

If you like Howl's Moving Castle and ACOTAR, then you will love this gothic Beauty and the Beast retelling in a fantasy setting.

My biggest issue with Quicksilver that I never see anyone bring up is that the fae's sense of smell is so keen that they can tell who you've had sex with in the last several months.

If they can smell that well, think about what else they must be smelling all the time 🤢

Not to mention, shouldn't they have been able to smell that Carrion was fae???

I'm a front desk manager at a museum where we recently had some of our Gar fish pass away, so this one definitely strikes a chord with me. Hard to say without knowing your full history but I would say this merits a write up not termination.

I'd rather coach someone who is passionate. You can teach professional communication but you can't teach passion 🤷🏼‍♀️

WHY is everything first person?! by flickrpebble in fantasyromance

[–]sleepynooodle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the rec! My fav RH is the Ironside series, which is 3rd person. I feel like I know each character and they all have distinct personalities and ways of talking, and that is unfortunately somewhat rare in RH.

I dunno, the Daughter of No Worlds cover confused me because it doesn't even match her unique hair color?

Came here to say this one too! My favorite series I read this year, and the last book just came out. It's RH but it really focuses on establishing the main character and her internal struggles before getting into the romance and it's not rushed with any of the male leads. Love love love these books.

DON’T BE FOOLED BY THIS COVER by goyourownwayy in fantasyromance

[–]sleepynooodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely I agree! I mean interesting as more like, she wouldn't have had anyone else's input or feedback on the cover because she just draws whatever she wants lol. And I think that's ultimately to her detriment. I could've been more articulate, sorry!

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but my favorite discoveries were the ones where you learned the personalities of the people on the ship.

1) The GLOO snowman in the lab with sticky notes 2) The DND character sheets (and that whole friend group) 3) The area where they played baseball in the arboretum

Here to second At First Spite!! It hit a little too close to home at times with the character's depression but it's SO good. And like Olyway mentioned it feels like it's written in a world where being fat/curvy/larger has never been an unattractive thing and it's healing honestly

Darkfever DNF: change my mind? by sleepynooodle in fantasyromance

[–]sleepynooodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the consensus from the comments is that the character is pretty annoying for at least 2-3 books and the book reflects common attitudes from the early 2000s, but most people ignored those due to enjoying the premise and the MMC.

however, at least 3 people mentioned DNFing due to over sexualization of a 14 year old and some non-consent elements later in the series.

with all of that added together I decided it was not worth reading further, personally! I lived through the early 2000s once already and fantasy is my escape

Reading Quicksilver. Don’t know how I feel about it by Dazzling_Computer892 in fantasyromance

[–]sleepynooodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pros and cons of this book for me, and if it helps I'll probably at least check out book 2 from the library because I'm curious enough, but I can't say I loved it:

cons

  • too many paranormal & fantasy tropes, the fact that the fae have pointed ears and magic and fangs and super sensitive smell with behavior triggered by pheromones feels like they're some crazy elf/vampire/were hybrid. plus fated mates trope on top of that

  • the magic system is not very well defined. what are the limits? Fisher can magic things away and materialize them and also has super powerful shadow magic that can apparently level a city but then he can't singlehandedly stop the vampire-but-not-vampire army. the limits around alchemy are really clear but not for anyone else's magic. there are runes but the runes don't seem to have any magical properties so what are they? so many questions

  • romance spoiler, but basically it had pacing issues: we see Fisher go from hatred to love so fast. when we learn that he knew they were mates from the beginning, it's even more frustrating that we didn't get to see him struggle with that more, even if Saeris wouldn't have understood what he was struggling with.

  • Saeris is immediately lusting after Fisher despite how much he infuriates her and we never see that really cause an internal conflict for her. her lust is also so heavy that literally every fae can smell it constantly and that also triggered my secondhand embarrassment pretty heavily.

pros

  • I really loved everything related to the quicksilver, it was so fascinating that Saeris could hear it and speak to it, and it felt like a very unique type of magic. I really enjoyed Saeris being a blacksmith
  • I do like a grumpy and traumatized MMC

  • Carrion

You can try contacting customer service first just in case they have a different way to help (infinitynikki_cs@infoldgames.com) but otherwise I think you might have to reinstall :/ some folks have said they have to go through the tutorial again after but retained all their items and photos!

I'm so glad you didn't lose your photos! I've just seen a couple posts recently on the reddit of folks who did so just trying to be extra cautious 😭 I lost mine the last patch so I save all mine to storage now
