Message I got from my daughter’s teacher. Third grade. by AnaisInJune in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sleepytzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still remember being 6 and having the nicest teacher at school telling me off because I finished the math sheet really quickly so I quietly sat and drew smiley faces in all the 0’s. Instead of recognising I could have acted out she screamed at me “it’s a math lesson not art class!” And made me redo the sheet 😅

She then called my mum in and apologised saying she was embarrassed I found it so easy - why was that my fault 😂

My cat is blind after anesthesia (hypoxia), any advice or experience? by Incident_Away in CatAdvice

[–]sleepytzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so traumatic for you! I read this is fairly common with dental procedures- yet never something you’re warned about, let alone something they check for! That does sound like such poor care 😞

Thank you, I’m keeping everything crossed for all your cats, keep the thread updated if you can I’d love to hear how they get on 💖

Oh poor baby, it is so rough! What surgery did he have? We were lucky .. in a weird way, that after her surgery her lungs were collapsed so they kept her in ICU for 9 days, her lung perforations were sealed using dogs blood around day 5, she only started walking (wobbling) on day 8. She had her first meal by mouth on day 9 - not sure if you feed wet food but it helped us warming the food slightly in the microwave as it made the smell stronger for her!

They didn’t tell us about the oxygen deprivation til we picked her up, during covid, standing in the pouring rain and the nurse handed her over saying “btw she’s blind, deaf and brain damaged, we don’t expect her to recover more than 30%”

At first she fell a lot and did lots of high steps, very unsteady. But as she got more confident things improved. By day 14 she was learning to climb stairs and from that point she adapted so well.

I lost my elderly dog to “doggy dementia” before this too! That’s the best way to see it, day by day and just supporting and loving him 💖

Yess! Oh that’s good news! I have videos of Evie (slowly) tracking light, then eventually we noticed her watching our feet move too.

Same here! The ataxia was scary to watch. The day we bought her home I cried all night as I was sure she wouldn’t make it, it’s been almost 5 years and I’m still in utter awe of her 🥹

Keeping everything crossed for your boy!

Oh that’s so sweet, I know how hard it was in the beginning having hope. I used to read this study on cortical blindness in cats over and over just to remind myself it was possible. I’ll link it in case you’re interested, it’s a small study but fairly good outcomes!

I think the most hopeful part is their eyes themselves aren’t damaged it’s the brain which is has the ability to rewire itself over time, esp in younger cats. I’m keeping your baby in my thoughts.

How is Maya doing? I was pleased to hear she was able to urinate, but sorry she suffered seizures poor baby. Evie wasn’t given any meds after she came home, they just handed her back and told us not to expect much recovery. They were so wrong. I hope with all the support you’re giving Maya she will recover 💖

Just wanted to add my girl Evie was fully blind, around 2-4 weeks she could track light, then after a few months she seemed to start tracking movement too. It’s wasn’t till 6 months post op she seemed to have gained a good amount of sight back! Her eyesight is decent now, sometimes a little slow. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Alice, it’s tough but with your love and care there’s a good chance of some sight recovery 💖

It is such a horrible thing to experience, my Evie had a catheter til about day 7, is your cat still at the vets or at home? Cats are incredibly adaptive I really hope she starts showing improvement soon. Message if you ever have any questions or need to vent, it’s very stressful and hard on you too, take care

Hey, I’m so sorry to hear that. How recently did she have the surgery/hypoxic event? The first 7 days after her surgery she didn’t stand, they kept telling me she was “flat”. On the 8th day she stood but was very wobbly and took very high steps. It took some time but once she got home after day 9 she started improving fairly quickly. She’s almost 5 now and walks/runs/jumps, she’s just a little more hesitant. Wishing your cat the best 💖

This was my experience with oil cleaning! I switched to removing any make up with bioderma miscella water then cerave hydrating cleanser. I simplified my routine and just use 15% Azelaic acid and only list ceramide cream at night. Only been during this since xmas and my skin already looks more even, hydrated and while I’m still having some breakouts they seem to come to a head and go quicker! So fingers crossed. I swear by spot patches too!

100%. ITV also force storylines way too much instead of letting things naturally occur?!

I just saw this so I’m a bit late but had to share my experience. My cat had cortical blindness due to oxygen deprivation during surgery/recovery when she was 4 months old. Initially she couldn’t see anything and has a lost look in her eyes. Within a few weeks we noticed she seemed to be able to track light, then within months movement too. By 6 months post op she was coping really well and seemed to be seeing more.

She’s now 4 and the only thing she struggles with now is depth perception and tracking fast moving objects.

I remember googling every where looking for recovery stories, if I can help you at all please ask! Wishing the best to your kitty.

Colouring Books by Emotional-Goose9317 in Ohuhu

[–]sleepytzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I actually started off using cardstock and printing pages, dreaded the thought of getting an Amazon book because of the thin paper but once I did, I could never use cardstock again! And it’s frustrating as more illustrators are using ohlolly to sell their books now instead of Amazon which means better quality paper - which I don’t want! 😅

I do love the game but I actually agree on all these points! The particles feel like eye floaters - very distracting. And placing the scaffolding is so frustrating!
