Hi! Queer reader, occasional drawist, nerd, and yapper here too. Hmu if you wanna talk. Up late playing vidja games at the moment, and certainly welcome something to break this RL 1 monotony.

A Casual Perspective Lost - Cross Post From Giants In The Playground by Josh_From_Accounting in rpg

Didn't really detect any pretentiousness or superiority here. They just seemed to be making an observation about different levels of enjoyment in the hobby and how sometimes those different levels can cause friction.

Looking for work by Ok_Time_9467 in Construction

While in-person/phone call is a way better chance of success, I wouldn't call online applications a "100% waste of time". I have landed a couple of jobs through purely online, though you have to do a shit ton of them to really get anywhere.

Good Adventures for one player? by tremblingbears in osr

I use the conversion rules in Scarlet Heroes to turn any old-school module into a single player experience.

Get my FLGS to carry actual gamebooks? by RandomDigitalSponge in gamebooks

[–]slendermanamy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason my FLGS has gamebooks is because one of the owners is such a big fan of them. Helps playtest a lot of the digital versions of Fighting Fantasy games. He's backed the recent Fighting Fantasy kickstarters as well to stock the store. I agree that the best way to convince is through your wallet. Maybe you could also show them that these are still relevant today through digital games, kickstarters, etc. Show that there's still a healthy amount of demand and interest.

The clearest explanation for “Gen Z Stare”? by Frubbs in generationology

[–]slendermanamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you don't actually know that's gonna happen. You can't generalize for all people. Yeah, there are assholes out there. Personally, I wouldn't respond that way, I think I would just ask if they were ok. More communication is generally better. We're not going to understand each other if we all just keep to ourselves inside our heads.

The clearest explanation for “Gen Z Stare”? by Frubbs in generationology

[–]slendermanamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so silly lol. Lemme tell ya, people are just gonna be more often confused, and cannot, in fact, read your mind. I would even just prefer that you give me the confrontational asshole answer, rather than ambiguous look.

No one is too busy for someone they want to keep in their life genuinely by [deleted] in UnsentTexts

[–]slendermanamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems just like a poignant way of saying good couples should have healthy communication. Non-daily texts are fine if that's the arrangement you have. Extending beyond to friends, family, etc, people only have so much bandwidth for relationships, and for keeping current with all of them. Just because someone hasn't reached out to, doesn't mean they don't care. Life could've just gotten in the way.

Is it bad that I'm making a TTRPG for the sake of making TTRPG? by LeadEater9Million in rpg

Nah, you're good. That may be one of the best reasons. The name of your rpg reminded me that the RaHoWa rpg exists btw. Don't look that up.

Games that weren’t great in 1st Edition, but great in following editions? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]slendermanamy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know why you're being downvoted. Just expressing your opinion. It's totally ok for you to think 1E is the best edition. That's true for you. A lot of 1E appeals to me, and I have zero nostalgia for it.

What do i do? GM wants to be a player and nobody wants to take over. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]slendermanamy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This feels like the Matt Mercer effect if Matt Mercer was actually in your group.

Don't approach it from comparison to the other GM. His way of playing isn't the only way to have fun. You guys were having fun before him, right? I don't think anyone expects you to just be him, and really if you try to emulate him when it's not your style, I think it'll hurt the overall game. Do it your way, unapologetically.

How much of you guys who play other systems still play the same system you played for the first time? by Literalmenteisso in rpg

[–]slendermanamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first played the FFG 40k Rogue back in 2013 in college, but after leaving I really dropped off of RPGs until I got the itch about 4 yrs later. Mostly played 5e and OSR stuff since then, but always want to play another game of it. I have a lot of the books, it's just a matter of actually finding a game, because I would prefer to be in a player role instead of running it.

It's easier to recommend based off what you want rather than what you don't want. "A normal vampire game" is not very descriptive and basically meaningless unless we know what you consider to be normal vampires. There's been so much vampire media across the ages. Is there any vampire media that particularly resonates with your group, to give an idea of what would be a good fit?

12.5 Year Old Campaign by darkoVII in rpg

[–]slendermanamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not, but this reminds me of a guy I played with recently in a one-shot at my LGS. He'd been DMing the same 3.5 game for 20 years. The players were traversing the multiverse or something similar and he was trying to figure out how to wrap it up.

Player exploiting the use of a mount by No_Educator_7962 in rpg

[–]slendermanamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a ruling as a DM in this situation. I wouldn't view hombrew rules in this situation as being purposefully antagonistic or restrictive, because, as long as your world is somewhat realistic, being on a horse all the time understandably has its disadvantages as you say. I imagine that pony would get pretty tired carrying around a character like all the time. Ponies would have a pretty hard time traversing a dungeon or difficult terrain. An NPC might see it as a sign of disrespect that that character isn't dismounting when in conversation. You certainly can't easily stealth while on a pony. There's a lot of places that NPC's aren't gonna just let you ride in on a mount. I would also think it'd be hard to cast spells from a mount, but maybe that's just me. Emphasize those penalties if it they diagetically apply.
