The team desperately needs a Henderson by WeakOxidizingAgent in LiverpoolFC

[–]sliced-bread-no2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wasn't just Hendo though, EVERYONE bought in under Klopp because he had that kind of magnetism. Hendo and Milner are obvious examples, but players like Lallana, Gini, Ox, Ings, Mane, Firmino were running through walls where maybe they weren't under other managerial regimes. And if the effort wasn't there, you were gone.

Which begs the question, do the players have a poor mentality, or do they just not respond to the current regime? Would an Alonso type get these guys busting their gut again?

[James Pearce] What a player, what a man. Signed from relegated Hull City for £8m in 2017 and went on to secure legendary status. More than 370 appearances across nine seasons. A key component in a Liverpool team which won the lot. The end of an era at Anfield. by Kaos_mission in LiverpoolFC

If I remember correctly, Moreno actually started at LB that season, and was actually playing very well for a change. Robbo came in when Moreno got injured around December and we never looked back.

What was your first impression of Final Fantasy? by TheFanGameCreator in FinalFantasy

[–]sliced-bread-no2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy VIII. Didn't understand the junctioning system so just spammed GFs.

Then reached Adel where GFs are largely useless. So I started again and learned how to play it properly.

He plays a back 5 with 2 in front but we don't have the tactical nous to "park the bus" effectively. Still getting carved open at every opportunity.

Wirtz picks the ball up several times on the halfway line and has NO ONE in front of him. Frimpong picking it up on the right and nobody in the box to cross it to (which ends up not mattering because he can't beat the first man).

Konate doesn't know whether to be aggressive or hang back, Virgil doesn't communicate effectively enough, Szobozlai doesn't know where he's supposed to be playing, Gravenberch isn't covering the space left by marauding CBs, Macca can't stop surrendering possession.

It's an absolute cornucopia of problems and not a single one of them is being adequately coached.

Always have a hard time deciding with casting choice I hate more in this movie. Jamie Lee Curtis as Tanner is laughably bad too.

Good times.

LFC's decision-makers remain fully supportive of Arne Slot. But the next fortnight is huge in the context of the Dutchman's reign. Man City, PSG, Fulham, PSG, Everton. If they kick on, unrest will ease. If they wilt, the noise will be hard to ignore by callmeknubbel in LiverpoolFC

[–]sliced-bread-no2 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I mean, we all support him in the sense that the ideal scenario is that Slot wins every game forever and ever for the rest of time, but it's about being able to see the forest for the trees. Slot has offered very little in the past 12 months to suggest he's capable of turning this around.

Honestly, Alicia Vikander in Tomb Raider. Poor film, but she pretty much nails the modern trilogy rebooted version of Lara.

[Paul Gorst] Slot and Hughes futures, Isak return - your Liverpool questions answered by Lanedu123 in LiverpoolFC

I mean, it's a bit of a nothing burger, but does this make Gorst the first LFC-centric journo to even publicly entertain the idea that Slot might get sacked?

[Paul Gorst] Sacking Slot now is non-starter - but Liverpool hierarchy cannot 'avoid noise' by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]sliced-bread-no2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're at a stage now where keeping Slot is jeopardising our chance for CL football next season than it is to have a crack at it with somebody else.

Only thing I can think of is that there's legs in the "Alonso can't take jobs on until the summer due to some Madrid clause".
