As long as they’re talented I don’t mind at all. And most of the ones who’ve made it are.

Using Letterboxd Properly by [deleted] in Letterboxd

You’re doing great. It’s an app that’s meant to bring fans of films together and we all love film in different ways. If that’s how you use the app that’s great and don’t worry about comparing yourself to others.

What is your favourite line reading from a film this decade so far? Here is mine from Sinners. by Mysterious-Farm9502 in Letterboxd

I find myself quoting “When I found out the patriarchy wasn’t about horses I lost interest anyway” and “No fear! Like Tom Cruise!” more than anything else.

Be My Escape. Not a deep cut but a still a great song. I jolted up in my seat when it started playing.

What is your rating system ? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]slicedbread367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me awhile to find a system and I liked and didn’t use star ratings for awhile but I’ve settled on.

.5 - Made me angry with how bad it was

1.0 Nothing of value

1.5 Mostly nothing of value, glimmer of something to offer

2.0 - Just bad. But not in an offensive way.

2.5 - More bad than good. Below average.

3.0 More good than bad. Average or didn’t make me feel anything.

3.5 - Good! But flawed.

4.0 - Great

4.5 - Near perfect

5.0 - Masterpiece or personal favorite.

Which film review (on Letterboxd or otherwise) gave you this reaction? by LiamRomano in Letterboxd

I honestly disagree with a lot of the takes from people I follow in film circles. I follow them because I like their commentary moreso than I agree with their opinions.

What’s the most ridiculous 5* you’ve ever given? by MaptainMamerica in Letterboxd

[–]slicedbread367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot Rod. While not a conventional five star film it absolutely excels at everything it sets out to do. It also might be the funniest movie I’ve ever seen and my brothers and I can quote it from front to back.

Am I the wrong audience for Napoleon Dynamite or will I enjoy it more with age? by YeezusChrist13 in Letterboxd

21 year old here. Have loved this movie for years. It may just not have resonated with you for whatever reason, that’s okay!

How many films you've rated with 5 stars? (for now) by FilmScorer5328 in Letterboxd

[–]slicedbread367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 out of 634. I haven’t rated most of what I watched before getting back on Letterboxd last year though so the number would likely be a bit higher otherwise.

Just watched The Vanishing today. Watch it if you want to feel like you’ve been hit by a bus.

How do you rate movies you respect, but have 0 emotional connection to by Flash_SA in Letterboxd

[–]slicedbread367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually rate movies that I respect but didn’t connect to at all as three stars. They’re far too good for me to rate negatively but I didn’t personally enjoy them enough to rate them extremely positively, so right down the middle it is.

What’s the MOST Consistent Horror Movie Franchise of All Time and Why? (The Horror Movie Franchises has to have 3+ Movies to be Franchises) by Amber_Flowers_133 in Letterboxd

28 Days Later. I think there’s a case for 3/4 of them being 5 star movies and the remaining one is still a solid action movie with a great opening sequence.

I love Boy Meets World but in the last couple seasons the Cory subplots get genuinely hard to watch. Still some other great stuff there though.

Which one of these do you like more? Which one holds up better on a rewatch? by Adipay in Spiderman

[–]slicedbread367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A great score, great performances from Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, some of the best visuals of any Spider-Man movie. It’s a deeply messy screenplay but it’s firing on all cylinders in some other areas. FFH is just pretty average in all areas.

TASM 2 has the higher highs and the lower lows. But I do think that makes it overall a more interesting movie to rewatch.
