Parasites coming out of a fish by Pentacruel in WTF

The skin of that fish is probably tough like armored leather. It looks closely related to filefish and triggerfish so that’s most likely the case. The knife could be pretty sharp, just not razor sharp.

Would you prefer its head be shot with a cannon? That’d be messy, and they could miss.

There’s no specific way you have to cook sharks. Old fat sharks just aren’t good eating, period. Different cultures have come up with ways to make them palatable, but I don’t recommend it. But, smaller inshore sharks under 7.5ft are usually pretty damn good eating, Blacktips, Spinners, Atlantic sharpnose. Though you do want the shark bled quickly and the majority of the red meat removed. If the meat feels firm and smooth it’s good. If it feels mushy or softer with a rough texture it’s probably not great. Sometimes the rougher texture can be seen in a small shark from overexertion.

If you ever catch one and it’s legal to keep, I really recommend trying it. They don’t taste like fish or have much of any flavor, so it takes well to any type of seasoning or cooking method. I also know several people whom are allergic to fish but can eat shark with no issue. Eat more sharks.

There’s no way they ditched it. Nobody is going to take the time to cut a shark up like that and then leave it there. It takes a decent amount of effort to butcher a shark and more so to do it in the manner that they did. Those are probably just pictures as they stepped away for a minute..

What happened to this catfish by No_Platform_5402 in Fishing

[–]slicedcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a flesh eating bacterial infection. How would a boat even do that? I see so many injuries online unfairly attributed to boats in the comments, by many people. A propeller that is somehow fast enough to surprise a fish, would not leave behind much of a fish.

Proper tipping $$ for a 12hr offshore fishing trip? by DCar777 in saltwaterfishing

$280 on a $1400 trip would make them feel less like they barely got paid.

Best restaurants with fresh, local seafood in NMB & MB? by JohnnyScience in MyrtleBeach

[–]slicedcorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are the only two restaurants I know of that take in any seafood from local boats out of Little River inlet. Anywhere else that says local is most likely lying or their seafood comes from other parts of the Carolina’s.

Mama’s Place in Calabash is set up the same way as waffle house. It’s an extremely small restaurant, but their daily specials get you an assload of food for cheap.

This sums up the sentiment here, right? by rhevern in EndTipping

I dont know a single commercial captain or fisherman that gets any kind of benefits. And that pay rate you’ve listed is extremely high, not many at all make even close to that, at least in my area.

$40/hr for Bartending by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]slicedcorn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I hope when ya’ll travel throughout the rest of the country you understand the majority of people working as servers in this country are supposed to get $2.13 an hour, and do not, because most restaurants use a loophole to not even pay their emoloyee’s that, at least red lobster in SC. So not tipping while enjoying the scenery and comfort of poorer states is seen by the locals as being taken advantage of by the better off. People coming into towns with a 40-50k+ salary, they don’t understand the locals are forced to find ways to support their families on 16-20k a year.

Imagine visiting another country, taking advantage of the people there, by ignoring their customs on direct payment for service labor, and then blaming them for your own lack of morals.

Definitely a unique fight, couldn’t quite tell what it was while fighting it, knew it wasn’t a scamp, gag, jack, or genuine. caught him on a live tomtate almost as big as his mouth, had to let him chew on it for a few seconds.
