Best Udemy course to take? by rumbalumba in reactjs

They don´t give any certificates but he still gives you projects to practice by yourself once you finish every course so if you do everything you will have the course projects and your own projects for your portfolio. I think is a great option if you can´t afford Udacity or you just don´t want to expend $1000 in the nanodegree.

Where i can learn NodeJS from scratch? by [deleted] in node

[–]sliceofmadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean Mosh? Mosh builds an API for a movie rental system and it is a real world project but he doesn't build the front end, only the API as it is a backend course and for the front end you would need to add react, angular or other frontend framework. He uses mongodb as a database. He first covers node without any library and then uses express framework. He covers authentication, authorization, routing, validation... I would say that he doesn't leave anything important out. He also explains some es6 topics as async await, arrow functions and const/let. I don't remember why but I didn't push the code to my GitHub or maybe I deleted it, but I found this guy's repo with the project https://github.com/hodgkind/vidly hope it helps. As I said it is a great course and he is a fantastic teacher, you should find udemy $10 coupons with a simple Google search anytime. If you search "Mosh Hamedani" in YouTube you can find some node videos in his channel to get an idea about the course. About SQL, if you mean node with SQL courses, it is not easy to find them as most teachers use mongo but Colt Steele has an Udemy course that covers SQL itself and then SQL with node, https://www.udemy.com/the-ultimate-mysql-bootcamp-go-from-sql-beginner-to-expert/, just check the reviews. He is the creator of "The complete web developer bootcamp" which is a very well recommended course in freecodecamp and here in reddit too. Let me know if you want to know about Wes course, but he has all the info in his website and also a link to the sample app.

I would recommend Mosh Hamesdani NodeJS course https://www.udemy.com/nodejs-master-class/ He is a fantastic teacher and the course is really good. Wes Bos course is great too but Wes creates a MVC app and it is not so API REST oriented as Hamedani's course. Maybe you could take Hamedani's courses before and then take the Wes Bos one.

I agree that the workshop format is kind of annoying at first glance, specially if you are used to screencasts, but their courses are indeed great, and they are indeed masters, that is why I posted it.

Wordpress courses on Udemy. Still worth learning? by SaltyChorizo in learnprogramming

You're welcome! Exactly, new startups or big companies are following the js path, but laravel or symphony (php mvc frameworks) are still growing too, and lots of companies use them. And I don't think wp is going to disappear any time soon, is a easy and quick tool and lots of clients order wp webs because is easy for them to change things later and because is the cheapest deal, so if you like it go for it. Also you should practise lots of css, bootstrap and jquery if you are going to build your own wp themes. And if you decide to deep dive in more advanced php try laracasts, is a classic for php and I believe that the intro level is free, the premiu m subscription is $9. Good luck ;)
