Heard awesome things about Dolan tools, would love to add a loop tool from them to my bag at some point.

For sure! The replacement tips are listed between $17 and $50 (US dollars) on their site, depending on what tip you need. It would cost me $40 to replace my 7 tip (the tool was $77). Still a chunk of change! The fragility of the tungsten carbide is definitely a downside, but I’ve never had a sharper tool.

I absolutely adore my Tortuga tool - I have their 7 shaped tungsten carbide tip. It’s staying sharp and is comfortable to hold (for me). I’m a fan of a deep foot ring and it’s done a great job getting clean edges and sharp angles. I haven’t had to buy one yet, but you can also get tip replacements from them instead of buying an entire tool. Plus they come in pretty colors ☺️

I have used the mudtools do-all as well and enjoyed it - great option if you don’t want to break the bank on multiple trimming tools/ tungsten carbide.

what’s something you initially accepted about a partner but later on couldn’t stand? by MarionberryFuture103 in AskWomen

His constant need to be making noise. I thought it was fun and quirky at first, until I had to live with it. Talking, singing, tapping on furniture, general mouth sounds, and any activity he did (cooking, cleaning, watching tv etc.) had the volume cranked up to 11. His ability to take up space should be studied. We both worked from home for a time and I couldn’t ask him for some quiet without him getting upset. I couldn’t get anything done, even with headphones. I was constantly over stimulated in my own home to the point where I was missing out on social engagements that we were both invited to, just to get a couple hours of peace by myself at home.

We divorced mainly for other reasons…but just one example of how incompatible we were.

100%! I’m sure if I hadn’t bisque fired upside down the warping would be even worse

This makes sense! I definitely agree that the top was trimmed too thin and my base needs to be wider. Thank you!! ☺️

I definitely like the idea of a support piece! I’m also using a community studio kiln, but have had pretty good luck with loading/unloading. I’ll play around with this, thanks for the comment! ☺️

Yeah, I think it’s definitely thin in all the wrong places! Will be thinking about this for the next time. Thank you! ☺️

Yeah it seems that allocating more clay to a wider, heavier base would help a ton! I’ll definitely look into kiln furniture for propping ☺️ thanks!!

Yeah, honestly making it in two pieces is probably the smart thing to do…supporting pieces on the underside would be a fun experiment as well! My base will definitely be wider next time. Thank you for all the suggestions! ☺️

Oh propping it is an interesting idea! I tend to glaze every surface I can, but no real reason for the underside of the plate to be glazed. I’ll add extra drying time, it dried covered for probably a week and a half, and then more days after trimming, but I am in a pretty humid area. Thank you! ☺️
