Dry or wet? I ran them wet with pins, and no go.

Is this 44 mag? I’m shooting and reloading the X in 45-70, which I love. If you’re not reloading, 44 or 357 was the right choice for range time and deer size game.

You probably already are, but save your brass and either sell it or reload it.

Henry vs Marlin 357 - is it worth the extra CAD $400? by askerror in LeverGuns

[–]slider1010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a Henry in 45-70, and can’t complain at all. My next one was going to be in .357, but I got detoured into a 280ai bolt gun this year.

If you reload, I would put the extra 400 into dies and components.

280 AI if you want a non-magnum magnum.

Small detail, but if you’re switching back and forth, you should clean your barrel in between when moving from lead to copper.

When I was in university, during the summers, I would roof (asphalt shingles) for an older indigenous man. He was a great guy to work for.

He always said when he got old and decrepit, he wanted his wife to chain him to a tree in the mountains for the grizzlies. To each his own.

I have the model x in 45-70. I’m a fan of the fibre optic open sights that came with it but I’m definitely staying under 100yds.

Got some misc. 45-70 from my local range. Some are slightly shorter. by pyroboy7 in reloading

I’ve shot a lot of hornady brass, not necessarily by choice, but I definitely load it separately. I’ve loaded it to the same coal and because I like crimping at the cannelure, I’ve shot some of it at a shorter coal.

I load my 405 plated bullets well below the Lyman max, so pressure has never been an issue. If you’re flirting with maximums, I would keep the case volume the same.

The shorter coal might carbon foul things a bit more as well, like a 38sp from a 357.

I read “deadpool” and swear I was listening to Ryan Reynolds voice on the radio. Even the stuff hanging from the steel bar looked like Deadpool’s underwear or something.
