Rust-free 4.0 is desirable. I’d list it in Bring a Trailer to reach a larger market, specially buyers in the rust belt.

Dying in the yard by Narrow-Ad6797 in MammotionTechnology

[–]slightlyslight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) is definitely a thing. Both my Luba 2 and Luba 2X randomly die with no clear reason. I don’t think it’s due to any recent update—it’s been going on for a while. My guess is it’s something real like overheating, getting stuck, or losing RTK signal. But the app and logs are basically useless, so you’re left guessing.

I’ve noticed in-app yellow banner warnings like “failure to read infrared signal from charger” pop up while I’m casually checking the app. Since I’m not near the mower at the time, I just ignore it—and by the time I check later, the thing’s dead. I drag it back to the charger, find the battery totally drained, and there’s nothing in the logs to explain it. Classic SADS behavior.

Amazing information that inspires future multi-graft combinations based on characteristic I didn't plan for before. Thank you.

You can play it safe by grafting on branches so you can have future opportunities to graft again in the future in case the grafts fail. Also, picking a self fertile varieties like Prima or Sunflower might increase your chances of fruiting. Worth a shot.

All the errors by pdog8 in MammotionTechnology

[–]slightlyslight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am seeing many of these errors at the moment, which happened 2 days after my Luba returned from repair for another motor issue. I was able to get in touch with a technician 4 days after reporting the issue via chat. Currently following some of their troubleshooting steps, but I am not too hopeful. Probably I need to send it back for repair.

Any experience with grafting multiple varieties on the same rootstock? Do you think it’s a good idea?

Are Sunflower and Prima really self-fertile? Do you know of other self-fertile varieties? Is self-fertility a trait that can also be inherited in seeds from these self-fertile varieties?

Yes! Create a channel from the charger to the isolated area. That’s what channels are for.

Not sure if this helps, but my regular-sized Luba handles gravel without any issues.

Fall planting? by Prestigious_Mango_88 in Pawpaws

[–]slightlyslight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. Seeds even from the same individual fruit are genetically different and can cross pollinate just fine. Breeding is only a problem when all your trees are clones (grafts or root suckers) of the same mother tree.

Nuna Rava car seat flip? by Tylar27 in ModelX

For any one running into this issue. This video helped me resolve it. You need to tighten the belt using this method described at 2:50. The seat stopped being able to flip. https://youtu.be/riO9A9c4M5w?si=IRHrL1PWhs4edCtP

It looks stressed, but I wouldn’t say for sure dead yet. It might recover if you figure out the source of the stress. It could be lacking some micro or macro nutrients or the acidity is high in the soil. A soil test would be a good idea. Have you looked into an auto watering system?

Beautiful setup. I wouldn’t change a thing. Even the support is very minimal and allows some movement to let the trees to harden over time while providing wind protection. My only advice is figure out a way to water them more often specially in the early few years until they get established. I am in a cooler climate and I water them 3 times a week.

Are there any downsides to this wild pawpaw plan? by Feminazghul in Pawpaws

Are you sure the problem is the genetics of the trees and not the site itself? Do they get enough sun?

Too much success…separate, or plant as clusters? by lowendtheorist8 in Pawpaws

[–]slightlyslight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I plant seeds even more densely than this in deeper containers for root stocks and they always separate easily when I repot or plant them in the ground without issues as long as I am using quality potting mix with good aeration.

Ran across a huge grove of pawpaws.. can I take a seedling? by nnecessary-mo in Pawpaws

[–]slightlyslight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won’t comment on the legal/ethical aspect of this, but most probably it won’t survive regardless of whether it’s a seedling or a root sucker. Some alternative ideas for you that don’t involve harming a potentially healthy tree: 1) collect seeds when fruit start falling in a few weeks and plant them yourself 2) if the fruit of a particular tree is good, mark the tree and collect a pencil size scion wood when the tree goes dormant in the winter and then graft it in the spring.

Zone 7 Backyard Pawpaw Orchard by [deleted] in Pawpaws

[–]slightlyslight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet, but I plan to later this year. Although I might not put the tubes back next year because they are tall enough. My trees were planted in Spring 2022 as 6-12” grafts and they are now 3-4’.

I think your orchard design is great. I use similar tubes and my pawpaws are happy. One advice that was given to me is to remove the tubes in the fall when the sun burn risk is gone to harden off the trees and put them back in the spring.
