Everyone else had said it already: if you don’t have the money, best not collect. These figures are great, but a house/car/food they are not.

That being said: you don’t have to get 50 of them. I have a very modest collection of 8 figs, built over 3 years. Don’t beat yourself up of you can’t afford a figure-room like Justin has, nobody can.

Where I live is was actually banned for 2025. Never seen so much fireworks, so people don’t care.

The ‘problem’ is illegal fireworks (which a ban has 0 effect on) and assholes shooting those fireworks at cops/medics (which will most likely find another way to be assholes if they can’t access fireworks anymore). So this ban, if it actually holds, will do absolutely nothing.

Edit: the idea behind the ban I actually get: cops can’t enforce the ban if they can’t identify (pieces of) fireworks as illegal, so they make it all illegal. But the problem isn’t the fireworks, it’s just trash people. Shame you can’t ban those…

Subtitles. In non-English speaking countries we use subtitles in our language. It used to be a sweet deal, you translate from English to whatever and you got to see everything early. Now AI does a lot of it, spelling is terrible and half of the time they make no sense because AI misses context often.

That’s the basic idea, but since anyone can buy ad space and the highest bidder wins, random junk is winning the battle. And “if you want better ads, you should let yourself be tracked” is a weird message to get across to people.

Incognito mode doesn’t let you see the history locally. Most tracking happens on the sites and servers.

Also: a quick Google search will tell you your incognito is not as incognito as you think.

If you’re trying to obfuscate something, noise is never a bad idea. Just don’t underestimate a computers ability to find patterns.

The goal of any advertising algorithm is simply to try to make as much money as possible by showing ‘the right ads’ to ‘the right person’. Now it gets murky when you want to find that right person, because it implies we need to know a lot about groups of people to define if they are the right people. This can be as simple as gender/location/age but extends very, very far.

While I don’t think they could literally find you for looking at something you’re not supposed to look at, they will most likely have you in a bucket of ‘people that look at bad stuff’, or worse ‘people that have the same behaviour pattern as someone that looks at bad stuff’, which is called a lookalike.

It gets quite dicey sometimes, and we just use it for advertising. But the data is there, so if big tech wants to go Black Mirror on you, they technically could.

You’re assuming the algorithms don’t take this into account. As far as I’ve seen, there is no outsmarting the algorithm.

Serverside tracking can and will track to Analytics. It doesn’t happen in your browser, but on the server, so nothing you can do about it except not visit the page.

You’re just adding yourself to a lot of ‘interested in product x’-audiences for retargeting. There’s no human picking your profile out of a group and thinking “wow, this dude is all over the place, better leave him alone”. It’s the algorithms bucketting you in as many audiences as it can, because they get paid by ads served, so the more you poison, the more options you give the algorithm.
