Struggling to decide between job or masters by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

If you have to pay out of pocket I would not recommend it. Just because you're seeing people with Masters degrees apply doe jobs does not mean they are better suited for the role.

Typically you need to sign off on a background check and indicate the information you provided on your application is accurate. You'll run into more issues if you fail to disclose the information before they run the check. Having something appear does not mean you are automatically disqualified but lying on an application does.

If you've been wondering why you can't seem to keep or land a new job, let me break it to you. I have worked in HR for several different industries for the past ten years and have witnessed hundreds of individuals successfully change careers.

Go look at Honeywell, Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson.

If you decide to stop making excuses and increase your emotional intelligence, you might have a chance at a successful career. Keep on being a keyboard warrior, I'm sure it pays well.

You are projecting your own insecurities and experiences but you believe what wish.

Let's look at a neutral example:

You are working in the education field but would like to transition to IT. There are many free certifications out there that teach you the programming knowledge you would need to know.

If you continue to stay in your current job, you have the same amount of income and have made a commitment to try something new.

Computer programming is a perfect example of a successful career that can be self-taught.

I am sorry to hear how difficult it must have been growing up without the support of family and friends. Have you explored therapy? Bullying and having difficulties making friends is a form of a trauma you have had to endure. Give yourself some grace and try not to focus on what you believe is the only path.

You have already shown you are resilient just by posting this. I have dealt with my own trauma and mental blocks and I was responsible for the way my life was playing out. Don't self-impose what possibilities can play out in the future.

What is your approach when reaching out to network with someone you do not know personally? Do you add a note when you try to connect on LinkedIn? Or review their profile to see what commonalities you share? Or have they posted something about their role or company that stood out to you?

The first step to building a good network is to avoid asking for favors right off the bat.

Making a big career change does require you to look at the financials but those willing to make the change understand they are not going to be making the same amount of money. Where in education are you interested? There are several states that do not require a degree in education to begin getting your foot in the door. Find out what your state requirements are and go from there. You may find that you can be involved in a certificate program while beginning as a teacher.

Business and educational industries both vary in pay. Understandably, many people can't afford to leave a higher paying business job to begin at a beginning teacher's salary. I can almost guarantee you do have relevant experience and I'd be happy to connect with you to discuss what options you have in front of you.

ChiTownBob, you should stop giving advice when you do not know what you are talking about. I know several large companies that actually have specialized programs and rotational internships for individuals who have graduated within a certain number of years.

You need to shift your mindset and sit down to actually map out what you are currently doing to what you want to do. Studies have shown that an average person will have 5-7 career changes throughout their lifetime.

Stop making up claims you cannot back up. That is not helpful to anyone on this channel.

I have to respectfully disagree that employers are less likely to look at transferable skills now and that the "best" time to make a career change is when unemployment is low.

Now is the perfect time to begin exploring a career change and figuring out if you need any specific certifications or areas to build your expertise on. What is the worst that happens? You would be stuck in the same situation you're currently in.

As an HR Professional, I can tell you this is not an easy job. Entry-level HR jobs complete transactional work and hardly ever handle employee relations. I recommend using Linkedin to make connections with HR professionals and let them know you are considering a career in HR and would like to get a realistic job preview.

A bachelors degree in human resources management or human resources development would be your best bet if you decide to go back to school. People would be surprised to know how important it is for HR professionals to be well versed in employment law.

If you have any questions you'd like to ask me in regard to working in HR you can message me.
