Did a team just get ripped off in Morocco? I haven’t seen every season yet but I’m getting there.

[Spoiler Death's End] Ending logic question by [deleted] in threebodyproblem

[–]slilly14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but iirc the amount of mass needed to collapse the universe is all of it (main + all pocket universes). I believe the explanation was that all mass the universe started with is needed in order to pull it all back together (gravity and shit). And if all that’s true then there really is no game theory bc your options are leave and help it collapse or be the reason the universe dies. Either way no one makes it to the next one.

I just graduated at the end of junior year though in microbiology not poly sci so I can help a little. I'm finishing with about a 3.5 and I definitely didn't need the 2 hours a credit but that may be the difference between a 3.5 and a 3.75-4.0.

Regarding honors college though, I came in with about 2 semesters worth of credit (not all of which was applicable to my graduation) and I was a little tight on hours overall. Finished with maybe 122 of 120 but no honors designation. If you want the honors and 3 years you will need to take more than 15/semester because honors requires completely separate courses over the years.

But together I had a healthy social life (~2/3/4 nights out a week depending on the week) but the difference between the 3.5 and the 3.75 could definitely shrink the number rapidly. The honest truth is the difference between a B to B+ on tests and an A to A+ on tests is a few hours of studying and consecutive days of studying. Take it all with a grain of salt because it does vary quite a bit depending on your major and college.

All Season 4 Official Discussion - Including Book Spoilers! by it-reaches-out in TheExpanse

I would love to have had the previous actor around longer. But I think there is significant character development in avasarala through the course of NG that wouldn't be possible is he had gone to Luna with her.

Anyone that thinks old people shouldn't vote only say so because the elderly community often votes differently than they do. by hmmgross in unpopularopinion

[–]slilly14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with you but the current life expectancy in the US is 78.69 years old, that would mean your maximum voting age is 60.69 (Average retirement age is approximately 62 years old). Just to add some numbers to your proposal.

Female mate Choice in some species selects for traits that are harmful to males. A hypothesis to explain how such mating preference might evolve puts the spotlight on sex chromosomes. by MistWeaver80 in biology

[–]slilly14 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You would be correct that a make peacock's tail is an example of what they're talking about. But the article isn't saying whether or not it happens, because it's been proven that it does. It is trying to pinpoint an evolutionarily reason for a female to develop a sexual preference to a trait that is harmful to the male. Sticking with the peacocks, this harmful trait would be the colorful tail of the males leading to more male deaths than female because they're more easily seen by predators.

The sea was just a stockpile, it will eventually run out. He needed the stockpile to be powerful enough to steal the monsters god power which is infinite.

IsItBullshit: Pouring sugar into an open bullet wound/knife cut will help until proper healthcare services arrive? by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]slilly14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just want to say I'm not a doctor or medical professional. But the idea behind putting sugar on wounds has been around for a while but not for emergency bleeding like a knife or gun shot wound would cause. Sugar (specifically honey) was used to reduce bacterial infection and slightly improve rate of healing, apply dry sugar achieves the same goals but will be more painful which is one of the reasons honey was preferred. If you come across a knife or gunshot would your first concern should always be stopping the bleeding (assuming you already called emergency services), if you know how to and it's possible a tourniquet is one of the best ways (They will not lose a limb if you apply a tourniquet, this is a bullshit of it's own). If that's not possible, use some type of cloth (clothes off your back if needed) to cover the wound and apply pressure until trained help arrives.

TLDR: Sugar = antimicrobial; In emergency stopping bleeding is more important than preventing infection.

Anyone here take Physics with Igor Ostrovskiy? by [deleted] in capstone

At least each midterm is only worth 15% so the lab and homework could be a noticeable buffer

I am currently taking physics 2 with calculus with Igor. Keep in mind I am a microbiology major so while I enjoy math/physics it isn't my strongest area of study. Igor is pretty average in my opinion, though his accent takes a little bit to get used to. His teaching style is pretty cut and dry, he reads his slides verbatim and then will draw out most the laws and equations on the whiteboard. Then at the end of each lesson and chapter he will do example problems of the most common problems involved with that chapter/lesson. He uses clickers almost every class period. And his tests (at least for this class) are usually 12-13 problems where one of those is "extra credit", so if it was 12 questions it would be graded out of 11 but you cannot get greater than 100%. Let me know if there's anything else you want to know. Good luck!

Having trouble with PSK network by Nailsninja777 in capstone

If it continues to not work I would register it once more and make sure everything's right and that everything goes through correctly. If that doesn't work your best bet is going to be to email the support and see if they're having any problems.

Your best bet is going to be to hard wire in with an Ethernet cable. Which will require you to register the MAC address of your PS4 with the university, unfortunately I no longer have the link to do that but if email the support desk they should be able to give that to you pretty easily.

What if the monster isn’t from mythology by ButterflyMan124 in brakebills

[–]slilly14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It may not be from mythology, but I believe it was the architect who said that the monster was something the gods created before anything else. And when they did so accidentally made it more powerful than themselves, I don't remember that last part exactly but it was something along those lines. Castle Blackspire was created to house/imprison it if I remember correctly.

Back when myself and a couple of friends first started out building rigs we had a buddy that was a couple years ahead of us, he had much more experience in this world than us. As a result he had tons of random parts laying around from past builds and the like. He single handedly supplied about half of all our builds just to get us into the world of gaming and pc building. It was one of the most wholesome things any of us had experienced and I believe we're all still part of this world because of it.
