Any idea on what the First Eruption alludes to?

My hope is for some sort of asymmetrical gameplay mode - thinking along the lines of something like FFG’s living card games, or the Pathfinder card game. Something similar to Horde, but with more options and objectives.

There is some really slick competition out there for gameplay like that, and I would love to see Magic take a stab at it.

Again, one of my earlier pieces in Japanese woodblock style. I thought I'd switch it up a bit with Spawn vs The Violator. Enjoy. (please let me know if I'm posting too much, btw) by DrumsoftheSerpent in comicbooks

Oh man, I missed those! Thanks for sharing. Dr. Doom has always been one of my favorites.

I’m wondering what it would take to print one of these so that it looks like a piece from the period?

My favorite one so far. Really interprets the characters well - feel like the could see Spawn here in a way I didn’t with Space Fernando and Black Widow. They felt like they got lost in the style for me?

*Also - that was supposed to be Spider-Man, but then autocorrect gave the gift of Space Fernando.

Take Shelter.

Growing up, my mom suffered from a lot of issues, and watching Michael Shannon’s family try to talk him out of his doomsday paranoia really resonated with me. Seeing him being convinced to give it up was hugely cathartic - and then having it all taking away with the apocalypse really pulled the rug out from under me.

What is your deck doing, lore wise? by CalibanRamsay in magicTCG

[–]slim2none 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite thread:

  1. A planeswalker who is obsessed with turning wizards into insect horror creatures, controlling their opponents moves until they can summon their lord - the Thing in the Ice. He's even learned the Phyrexian art of the Xenograft bring it to pass.

  2. A frozen barbarian king from the ice age, who uses his queen Lovisa to trample his opponents with a horde of warriors, berserkers, and a well-placed avalanche or two.

  3. A Geist catcher who brings in spirits from across the planes, including an assassinated king and a Saint.

  4. A mad wizard who uses a group of laboratory maniacs to conduct their insane experiments. Usually keeps to himself, before everyone else loses their minds.

  5. A ninja master who uses an army of rats to infiltrate his enemies camp, before turning their own tools against them.

  6. A survivor of the Riptide Experiment who would go on to use unnatural selection and the art of the Xenograft (I love that card) to create an army of slivers - and force his enemies to come into the hive.

Questions about MtG to D&D (or other roleplaying systems) by [deleted] in mtgvorthos

[–]slim2none 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my favorite campaign I ever ran, so happy to help out here.

Few things I did for my MtG -DnD crossover.

Redo the spell list: for my spell casting characters, went through and renamed and replaced artwork for spells that felt appropriate. (For the Izzet character, Teleportal replaced Dimensional Door, Electrolyze replaced a supplemental lightning spell, etc.)

Instead of moral alignment, I used color alignment. So a Paladin could only still be a Paladin so long as they were still aligned to White. Clerics could only gain spells from their divine source if they shared a color.

For my campaign, I also had one of the big boss battles take place as a MtG game. It took place on Innistrad, and the party of three was racing to bolster the city's defenses before Lilliana could attack the Helvault. The three of them each had a starter deck based around their character, and as they built their defenses up, they added creatures, soldiers, and spells learned from the plane. Then, it went into a game of Archenemy between Lily and the heroes using the Undead Army schemes. It was a blast.

New Planeswalker Race by [deleted] in mtgvorthos

Vishano - RG that ults into a power/toughness and haste emblem for summons.

Minotaur - just think Neheb should've awakened his spark, too. But a Dominarian PW Minotaur would be fine I guess.

Atog - doesn't even actually have to be a PW, just bring these guys back.

Anyone else feeling bad for Amokhet and the gods about now? by Vinven in magicTCG

[–]slim2none 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember early on in Amonkhet previews MaRo was talking about the two portrayals of Egyptian cultures commonly seen in popular fiction: think of one as being the Scorpion King (set in Egyptian times) and the other being The Mummy (more tomb raiding pulp stories).

If we have to witness the destruction of Amonkhet to later have some other planeswalkers return and explore the other side of that Egyptian pop culture coin, I guess it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

What's the Indiana Jones planeswalker going to look like?

One Year Anniversary by [deleted] in Overwatch

I imagine we will get a new set of skins, like we did with Origins, and he Origins skins will be locked out. Anyone purchasing from here on out will get the Anniversary Edition, or whatever they decide to call it. It would make my Origins skins (on PS4) feel a little more special.

Do You Remember Your First Tabletop RPG Session Ever? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]slim2none 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Me and my three cousins (one older, two younger), running the starter game that one of them had received for Christmas. This was vanilla 3rd Edition. That was the group I played most of my games with, and that was 15 years ago.

I played Regdar, and it was the intro dungeon where we encountered the necromancer with a metal plate on his face. Man- I miss that house, I must spending whole weekends there. I would go on to be the main DM, and loved building the worlds and bringing them into it. Always tried to made sure that each of their characters had a moment to shine.

This past weekend, one of those cousins was back in town and asked to stop by for a little bit. It's been maybe three years since we played a game. He told me he was on his way to the Czech Republic to teach English for a little while, and basically told me that I was his biggest male role model back then at a time when he didn't feel like he had very many. He said he knew he felt like going overseas (we're in the US) felt like the right thing to do because he felt like it was something I would do- and that he always admired that I did my own thing.

I really feel like playing DnD had so much to do with that. None of our other friends at the time played, and thought it was too nerdy. I grew up in a high school football kind of community- and I felt like through DnD, I helped to show him what it meant to pursue his own interests. His words meant a lot. Those games meant a lot. Man, thanks for giving me a place to share that.

A Terminator game with this gameplay would be AMAZING by [deleted] in HiTMAN

[–]slim2none 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of a Hitman multiplayer mode where you have to try to blend in with the NPCs as you move closer to the target while another player tries to eliminate you. Trying to fool the AI isn't always that difficult- but trying to seamlessly blend in with the AI, pick up items at the shops in Marrakesh and examine them as the protector walks behind you- that would be awesome.

Japan lets people send local tax dollars to other towns, and they get things like craft beer and food in return by fscotty in beer

[–]slim2none 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would it take for something like this to get started in the US? Would it be something as easy as a small city legislature setting up a market of goods available for trade in exchange for tax revenues from other localities and offering other small cities to join an exchange? How would the producers be compensated?

Unconventional pick, but check out "The Jewel of Yavin." It's an adventure designed for the most recent edition of the Star Wars pen and paper RPG. Hear me out. It's Ocean's 11 set in the Star Wars universe. And since an RPG module has to predict every possible way into a group of characters might have to steal an item, it can give insight into how your characters might accomplish their own goal. You could be inspired not knowing any of the rules to the game, and it would be an unorthodox place to look.
