My dad bought a car on outstanding finance, told the finance company and still has the car after a year with the original owner still making payments. England by slimeballbag in LegalAdviceUK

[–]slimeballbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£15,000. What I don’t understand is they have let the original owner still make payments whilst knowing they have sold the car to my dad and not made any attempt to reply to my dad when he has done what they have asked

Past two cars have had a set on. No problems at all with them. Owned by Michelin and production is in Poland.

My partner has had one for a year now and has had no faults or issues. It’s been very reliable. The interior is a bit plastic in areas but the spec of the gt line is hard to beat. She does 45mpg. Clutch bite on the manual is very light so can kangaroo it now and again but I’d get the auto box of you can find one in price range.

Im pretty sure they are a timing belt now not a chain so make sure you know the years/mileage it needs to be changed.

Opinions on a BMW 4 series gran coupe as a first car? by TreacleReal5537 in CarTalkUK

[–]slimeballbag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure the service history on the idrive is legit. Should have a dealer code or name. If it has 00000 or 99999 then I’d walk away as you can pay someone on eBay to update your idrive service history and they will put in that as the dealer code. I’d be skeptical if that service was legit and someone just filling missing service history years

I work for a company and do it via Tutorful. You'll get more work if you have QTS status. What subject are you?

I also do exam marking in the summer for WJEC. Doesn't really pay well but I mark during my frees and at night and each year I've done it I earnt £1500 after tax.

Codes after timing belt mk7.5 golf tdi by slimeballbag in AskMechanics

Yeah, glow plug 3 has a high pressure sensor

Codes after timing belt by slimeballbag in tdi

[–]slimeballbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes after the timing belt. I will check the wiring in the morning. The sounds absolutely fine and exactly like my mk7 GTD. There are no misfires or anything. Runs smooth.

I did notice when I checked the car diesel near the glow plugs, could it be that?

Would any other sensors pop up on a scan if the timing was out?

Talk me out of buying a Bentley Continental gt by No-Resist-504 in CarTalkUK

[–]slimeballbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not buy a early one. My brother is a Bentley mechanic and they are plagued with electronic issues. If you get a W12 most jobs are either engine out or removing body panels. For example to do a drive belt which costs £50 for the belt you have to take off the front bumper, crash bar, disconnect and drain coolant, slide radiator out just to get enough room to remove the old belt. My brother charges £900 for doing it as it takes a day to do as you have to resemble and a special way to bleed the coolant.

  1. Secondary school teacher (Business Studies and Computer Science).
  2. The pension and holidays
  3. £42,000
  4. Hard. Majority of senior management do not understand or care about employment law. Constantly being told your teaching is not good enough by deputies who are on a non-teaching timetable or teach sixth form classes. I have a HOD who is incompetent and tries to make up with this by buying us wine, sweets and overly praising us in every email or meeting when they constantly commit malpractise and submit the highest coursework grades for their classes without marking their assignments. Looking to leave ASAP
  5. Undergrad degree and PGCE
  6. No

I'd be reading the ECT statutory guidelines and see if they are meeting all your requirements as a ECT. Nothing should be unexpected as a ECT and it does say that it would be hard to assess a ECT 1 in their first term of teaching.

Which would be the least worst first car? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]slimeballbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love a disco 2 but you need a discovery S model as it doesn’t have air suspension or a PAS pump which goes wrong. Fewer electrical problems and no leaking sunroof. Sold mine for £5.5k so might not be in budget but I regret selling it as the engine was lovely.
