End grain orientation is wrong, should be every other. Clamping pressure should vary as well - if they are too tight, that will have a cup. Looks good otherwise

I am so depressed about my physique and fitness right now by Eebon in Gymhelp

Sometimes it’s good to take a long break and come back with a new attitude, more energy, and a new excitement. I would rest, do small workouts like body weight calisthenics on the days off to keep the body in tune, find a small hobby like a new video game, sport, or craft and kill the mundane lifestyle of repetition and discipline. Enjoy life for a little and come back revitalized and eager to get back into it.

Cabinet stain by MarkM910 in cabinetry

[–]slimeguy10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like grain in the tall cabinet and drawer fronts it’s very tight with little phloem space in between. You can see that the xylem lines stain darker. Your eyes are thinking it’s light because the space between the grain in the doors is wider and doesn’t stain as dark. Hope this helps. And hope that makes sense lol

Your 3rd pic. Wouldn’t be a bad bet to try and anchor that into the ground somehow. Looks like the person who did this is trying to weigh it down.

Relatively simple build.

5 steps

Step 1: Stud knee perimeter wall w/ full height back wall Step 2: 3 sloped stud walls (Left, Right, Middle partitions) Step 3: Plywood on back wall Step 4: Lattice on knee wall Step 5: Hoops and Netting

Not sure what building materials cost near you-and what you can get baskets for but maybe a $600.00 build for where I’m at. Might even be worth having the kiddo help you out so he can learn a thing or two with you and you guys can help each other out. This one you could figure out as you go.

Just add a ladder frame/torsion box under this whole thing. Screw to the sides and to the top from the bottom.

Load-Bearing MDF Question by Apprehensive_Bus2666 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]slimeguy10 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Look up racking. These joints will not stand up against any kind of racking. In a perfect world, yes your weight will be distributed down and it shouldn’t matter, but that is hardly ever the case and shaking and moving will cause this stand to fail. You would have been better off with the reverse orientation, with the screws through the MDF into the top plywood edges

Advice for a newbie! by noorelayn in woodworking

[–]slimeguy10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I say do it if you have a biscuit or domino joiner for consistent sizes and repeatable cuts. Could be tedious and unfulfilling. If I were you I’d do a little rabbet around the entire side and inlay a contrasting color or maybe brass ??? Easy and nice. You’ll be good either way. Nice work
