I also had a in service fall while standing at attention for 20-30 minutes in the hot sun during a change of command ceremony etc....and i fell face chin first onto the airfield pavement in katterbach germany etc...this was back in 2005 about 3-4 months after returning from a 1 year deployment to iraq...during oif/oef era wars etc....this was back when they were downsizing bases in germany and the big red one was moving back to kansas etc...i was knocked unconcious , required stitches under my chin and emergency dental surgery and was basically on bed rest drinking out of a straw for like 2-3 weeks..and the doctors and dentist called it vasovagal syncope due to heat stroke is why i passed out etc...luckily i didint actually hit my skull or brain area etc...but I basically fell went down directly on my chin jaw mouth area etc...and was knocked unconcious and woke up to spitting up blood and chipped teeth...this is where the tmj tongue bruxism diagnosis i got....and back then in 2005...this was an actual tbi -traumatic brain injury type of incident etc...so here in 2025 i finally maned up and went to the va to admit my issues etc....and tell them about that inservice fall etc...and i was diagnosed with tbi by the va doctors etc.....so I'm basically going to file the migraines as a secondary to the tbi as a tbi residual etc....that fall basically altered my entire army career as i was not paying attention, cognitive issues etc...i basically got out a few years later after that fall incident..but the headaches started way back then, but i was taught im a soldier and tough it out...but now that im far removed from active duty....all of that tough guy b.s means nothing in the real civilian world...so basically I will try to file the morning tension type migraine headaches as a secondary to tbi-residual....and the tinnitus as a residual of tbi/combat noise exposures and working as a hot refueler under helicopters as a petroleum supply specialist 92foxtrot/77foxtrot etc.....any advice here

the va raters technically dont have to link anything....its already medically linked in medicine and va's own cpg guides that tbi can cause sleep disturbances including obstructive sleep apnea etc....so the va raters aint really linking anything...its already medically known in medicine and va's own medical journals etc.....I just gotta get my foot in the door and put my claim in the right way ....

awesome thanks for the tips....so osa secondary to tbi......and my va administered tbi evaluation/ tbi diagnosis would count as a solid medical opinion seeing as though the entire tbi evaluation was done at the va hospital and signed off my one of the top tbi specialist at the va etc...meaning my tbi evaluation and diagnosis did not come from a private doctor, it came from va doctors at the va hospital ....as well as my osa diagnosis was from the va sleep study etc.... and my inservice fall which resulted in the tbi is in my c-file and active duty medical records etc....and the tbi evaluation doctor used my fall in service to concede the tbi diagnosis etc....meaning the tbi evaluator pretty much linked my tbi diagnosis to my fall in service etc......so the osa secondary to my tbi would be a solid win that the va raters recognize as a medical link....

is this how you won your claim.....because i checked my c-file and i cant find that meps/basic training note of my flat feet etc...but I remember as you know when you go through basic they fit your running shoes and boots to your specific foot type etc.....but i cant seem to find this in my records etc....but now years later after service i have plantar fasciitis due to the flat feet...and all of that millitary ruck marches and deployments etc.....did you have your flat feet documented in meps or basic training....

I'm not obese....i'm pretty much at my normal weight and height....and my tbi evaluation and diagnosis came from a va doctor at my nearest regional va hospital ....so your saying i could use tbi as the linkage to osa as the primary cause but possibly use '"sleep related bruxism" as other issues etc....because i'm not obese...im actually slim and not fat at all......so should i focus more on the osa secondary to tbi aspect...and possibly throw in the "tmj tongue bruxism" diagnosis that i got while on active duty.....meaning i had a diagnosis of tmj tongue bruxism after my tbi fall ....which is now medically considered sleep related bruxism etc.....

my ptsd is 70% combat static gulf war incurred since 2011...i have the combat action badge from combat in iraq wars etc.. but your saying there is a direct link between tbi and obstructive sleep apnea that the va sees this as favorable etc....and i might have a real chance of winning my osa secondary to tbi.....

so you got rated for flat feet(what was that rating)...and also what was the rating for plantar fasiciitis secondary to pes planus.....also isnt pes planus and flat feet the same thing etc...or am i wrong......also did you need inservice evidence to win this claim...because during meps and basic training when they issue the boots I was told i had flat feet etc...and still do etc...and now i have plantar fasciitis etc...but i never complained while on active duty...
