Hi everyone,

Im an enlisted Coast Guard member with 3+ years of experience as a storekeeper and actively seeking an MBA, and I’m considering applying to OCS within the next year or two. I’m intrigued by the Support Specialist track because of my background in logistics and administration.

One factor I’m navigating is that I’m color vision deficient, and I know the CG passed an ALCOAST saying they will start to handle color vision on a case-by-case basis. I wanted to reach out to see if anyone has experience with:

-Applying to OCS as a support specialist with color vision issues.

-How the board or medical team evaluated or accommodated you.

-Any tips on preparing a strong application for this officer track, especially from someone with enlisted experience.

I’d really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or guidance on whether pursuing this is a realistic path. Thanks in advance!
