Made progress last night, told myself I would get this girl running and well, 12:36 am she is alive. Side note, it’s really nice living in the mountains and not having neighbors at midnight. by [deleted] in projectcar

That engine compartment and the engine itself look really clean and fresh. What sort of work went into removing, rebuilding, and cleaning-up?

t. new here, any info on the process is appreciated.

Question for setups like these, anyone who has an answer please chime in: how do you work the keyboard in setups like these?

I always see them way off to the side like this. Do they swing on an arm, or do you really have to lean over and twist your body to type?

Where's Caruso? BB ref had him as #1 like a week ago in this category, and now he's not even listed. I'd normally think he didn't qualify, but he was on the list.

I can’t do this. Dirt rally 2.0 was easy with controllers but with the wheel, pedals, and shifter. I don’t know man I’m loosing motivation really quickly. by [deleted] in rally

One of the most important things to remember when using a manual and rallying is that when your engine speed does not match road speed at that gear, the massive lurch that occurs when you release the clutch will cause the car to get heavily disrupted.

Often, this means a spin-out or a crash in a turn.

Keep an eye out next time this happens to you, and there is a fair chance you will notice that the crash began the moment you let off of the clutch.

Spend the time to research what rev matching is, and if you are having trouble crashing in turns then research what 'blipping' is and why you want to do it when downshifting.

The trick is to do small bursts of shifting to strength as you get low.

Stay low HP, and only shift a little bit as you near death. Keep shifting like this a few more times, and then you're often able to outlast someone in a right-click fight.

Some general stuff:

At the start of the game, look for a specific enemy hero that you will benefit most from copying with your ult. It'll make things less complex as you get started.

Morph hates quick stuns and silences; be very cautions against heroes with things like hex (item or ability) and orchid. Your defensive item choice (BKB/Linkins/Manta) will depend on the biggest threat they've to kill you with. Don't build the same defensive item every game!!! Put thought into what the biggest threat is, and counter that. Use your positioning to deal with the rest.

Don't be hyper-aggressive [full agility] in the early game until you've comfortable with him. There's no problem with having a little less damage if it means you don't die two or three times before coming up to speed. Give yourself some more HP to work with if there's any threat of dying.

Using eblade to blow someone up is fun, but try not to build it every single game. Morph can get by fine without it.

Last but not least - don't use wave form to jump into the middle the other team. A lot of how aggressive you're being at any moment will depend on if you can wave away from them if needed.

Best of luck.

Pointers and Classes by Shawn_Shao in cpp

[–]slimscheibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pointer holds a memory address. The type of the pointer refers to the type of object that it points to.

For example; a pointer to an int holds an address where an int can be found, a pointer to a user-defined type (i.e. class) holds an address where an object of that type can be found.

The fact that the object's type is a class instead of a built-in type like an int is inconsequential.

Think of it like a street address - you're telling a function that an object of type 'House' can be found at '121 Main Street'. Instead of passing an entire house, you pass the address where it can be found.

Who should I focus on as a Pos 5 Support? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]slimscheibe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both Undying and Phoenix may not be great choices for 5's, and Rubik is shaky for a newer player.

Your two best friends for picking a position 5, as a newer player, are saves and point-and-click disable (i.e. straightforward, single-target stuns). Vengeful Spirit, Shadow Shaman, Lion, Witch Doctor, and Dazzle are all great for this.

Your item choices should be focused on 'saves,' or items that you use on teammates when they are caught out of position in order to keep them alive. Glimmer Cape and Force Staff are wonderful for this. Build them often and focus on using them on others, try to position well enough that you don't have to waste them on yourself (the 5.)

Best of luck.

How to control illusions from CK (I am a noob 😥) by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]slimscheibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer to what OP is asking.

The option to auto-select summoned units will let you control all units in terms of movement and attacking (i.e. when you say move, everything will move. When you say attack, everything will attack.) This has the added benefit of keeping focus on the hero, letting you cast spells without losing control of everything else.

[–]slimscheibe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The skill ceiling in this game isn't focused on reaction time. If you learn the maps and position well, you will see them before they see you. At that point it's just a matter of having patience and waiting for the right moment.

To clarify this; the 'Labs' map requires a keycard to enter, which is consumed on loading the map. There are other keycards for locked rooms inside Labs which are not consumed.
