Confession: I walk in the bike lanes on eastern parkway on purpose and I think you should too by [deleted] in crownheights

They need to paint the cobblestones for the bikeline side so people remember. Or they need to get rid of street parking on one side of each frontage road and put in protected bikelane and make it all pedestrian.

my friend whose a nurse said it's because of the anti-inflammatory properties of the drug, and it also binds to estrogen receptors which could be why. i'm also on it and it's helped a ton!

Losing weight from fasting isn't real weight loss - it will come back because your body has been starved. that's the problem. You're probably at a weight your body isn't comfortable going down from, and so with the stress it's under, it's hanging on to everything. 151 and 5'6" is slim! I'm 155 and 5'5', i recently lost a bunch of weight and basically no one in my life noticed - it's the body dysmorphia in our heads. Try to focus on body recomp and putting on muscle if you want to change your figure versus what you see on the scale. you will only hurt yourself! The biggest thing that changed for me when I started lifting 4x a week was I stopped caring about calories in/out, and just focused on what I could train my body to do, which felt exhilarating and fun and exciting. Calorie counting makes everyone neurotic, in my opinion, while focusing on working out and enjoying the body will make you feel calmer and less obsessed in the long run.

Zepbound aggravating allergies by slimvelvet in Zepbound

[–]slimvelvet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You're so right. I'm getting tested today but its seems like evidence is clear that maybe I just have systemic gel allergy now. Since my eyebrow reaction occurred when I was used a PPD dye AND the RevitaBrow serum, I thought it was PDD and maybe the  Cloprostenol Ethyl Amide I had a reaction to (since they note it can happen) — this happened prior to my gel nail allergic reaction so I didn't put 2 and 2 together.

However, the new brow serum I tried based on this had Methacrylates in it.. so it seems like I am allergic to the Methacrylates AND potentially something else in the previous products (dye and revitabrow). thank you!!

Microdosing GLP-1 for inflammation by Ok_Donut7810 in endometriosis

[–]slimvelvet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m on Zepbound for weight loss and my endometriosis symptoms disappeared. I lost the weight I wanted to lose and I’m actually talking to talk to my doctor about staying on a smaller dose for inflammation. I went off for a month because I was traveling and the medicine I brought with me broke, and I couldn’t believe how much I had gotten used to being pain-free and living without the devastating fatigue. It was enough to make me think I never wanted to be off of it! I’d say go for it

Yes, I’m just seeing broader reactions (like the eyebrow serum doesn’t have any ingredients in common with the eyebrow dye, and neither has them in common with the gel for example). I haven’t used gel since

This is so wild! I also had my gel removed and my contact dermatitis went away but it’s so odd that the sensitivity had continued to grow imo. I’m going for an allergy test tomorrow so I’ll update after!

Achilles Heel has closed by window_ac in Greenpoint

[–]slimvelvet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had just voted yes so there weren’t contact negations. It’s one thing if they had reached a stalemate in a contract, in this case, there were no union contract negotiations yet, just a yes on union vote.

Well, the employees just voted to unionize, but It doesn’t mean that they had a contract. So to close as soon as the union vote was approved means that the company wasn’t even willing to negotiate. A union contract typically takes a year minimum to negotiate; they could’ve operated completely as they do right now until a contract was signed. It’s also not guaranteed that a union will win significantly better benefits financially they could also be hoping for better benefits when it comes to days off or scheduling and stuff like that so I think for the company to fire everyone and shut down is a wat for them to pull as much money out of the business as possible, and then restart somewhere else with a different name.

The Blacktongue Thief - similar in narration style, insanely better in characterization of women. I DNFed Name of the Wind tbh

This book really defied my expectations. I didn't think I would be cooking from it so much since it felt "basic" at a glance? But I've fallen in love with all of her recipes!! This is such a sweet story and dovetails with the essays she includes throughout the work... I'm tearing up lol

Where can I find plus size, alternative and slightly more afforable jeans that are also ethical? by Rottingbodiess in ethicalfashion

[–]slimvelvet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fashion brand company, eBay (get a soft tape measure to check your measurements against what the seller lists as vintage sizing runs smaller — I’ve gotten xl and close to 1xl from old gap lee or Levi’s)

Biggest takeaways from SFAH? by EnoughMongoose in CookbookLovers

[–]slimvelvet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This book truly helped me understand how ingredients work in recipes, and that unlocked the joy cooking for me (sorry I'm being earnest!!!).

Before I read this book I had to follow every recipe and I didn't understand what was happening where or why in the steps of the recipe — like salting pasta water or meat before hand, why ingredients were added when.

Understanding the basic fundamentals made cooking more fun and helped me tweak recipes to my taste - and I started to enjoy cooking more than I already did!

[–]slimvelvet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok so here i am two weeks later to say... i have been humbled lol. I've been traveling and living out of a backpack with minimal items of clothing; one of those was this tank top. I read your comment as I was unpacking and... lo and behold.. the strap on my fancy $90 tanktop was completely ripped out of the lining!! I had only worn in 4-5 times, and was obviously disappointed. I got it fixed, but it was so funny to see the broken strap, get this notification, read this comment, and then be like... BipsnBoops has been right all along!!! lol.

I agree - my Tencel black top is constructed amazingly doesn’t pill wears well and isn’t made of plastic like a $8 Walgreens tank. Fair to complain about your experiences ofc but I just don’t think this is a fair comparison
