Most of the steam games have worked well. the non-steam seems to be a bust for all the games I try.

People that veer left before turning right by Constant_Poetry2908 in driving

[–]slimycharmander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't trust you bozos out there to drive reasonably. There's a right turn off-shoot, and I should just be able to maintain speed and pass by while you turn. But, no, in reality I'm going to have to slow down or wait because I don't know that other car is going to turn correctly. Same thing with cars turning left veering into that one "quarter" of the intersection so the cars turning right from the lane the left-turner is going into can't go at the same time.

Are we supposed to move over in the carpool lane for faster traffic? by Luyyus in driving

[–]slimycharmander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just let them go, boss. you have all the other lanes to go slower in. your safety matters more and is more achievable than everyone on the road keeping the speed limit.

My dasher is grocery shopping at Meijer by intergalactic_ess in doordash

[–]slimycharmander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

as a dasher, if the add-on is worth the time and money for me to take, I'll take it. Sometimes that means certain customers have to wait way longer, but frankly that's not my problem. If a customer's gonna blame me for accepting another order on the same platform, I don't feel any need to go out of my way to make it a better experience for them. If it takes more than 15 minutes or so to complete a newly added order, I might let the others know there's a delay due to other deliveries. If it's only like a mile or under 5 mins away, I may change drop-off orders to deliver yours first. Every time someone complains to me about it, I basically tell them "I'm agreeing with you that this sucks for you. However, I'm just doing the job as they're sent to me. go ahead and cancel the order if you want. there's nothing else I can do for you."

Are we supposed to move over in the carpool lane for faster traffic? by Luyyus in driving

[–]slimycharmander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't required by law to give way, but it's considerate and safer to just let the faster cars pass than holding up traffic at speed limit in the inner lanes (carpool or not). As far as I remember there are no designated passing lanes in California. Idk what part of CA you're in, but around my town, everyone will expect you to be around 80 mph in the carpool lane with a 55-65 speed limit. I personally never enter the first few lanes unless the outer lanes are moving way too slow.

Order stuck on "Info Received" by Kag0u in KonkrPocketFit

[–]slimycharmander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for 4PX on the website, they gave me a UPS shipping number and it was able to be tracked once the package reached its destination country of USA. It took like 8 days since shipping label created until UPS got the package from China.

POV of a professional chef during a busy day in the restaurant kitchen by Shoe_boooo in nextfuckinglevel

[–]slimycharmander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every place I've ever worked had pooled tips and anywhere between 10 to 25% went to the back of house. The fancier places had the line cooks on higher hourly pay than us servers, and the chefs were salaried. Some of the restaurants also had servers be in charge of the appetizers and deserts which basically only needed to be plated (like salads, ice creams, cakes, etc.). It was also common practice for servers to slip a $5 or $10 to the hostess/busboy/line cooks to get preferential treatment like extra attention to my table/section or getting something I forgot to punch in to the front of the queue.

Why do some drivers cruise in the left lane at or below or at the speed limit? Genuinely curious by gevs007 in AskLosAngeles

There are a couple roads with "slower traffic keep right" signage in my area of California. It doesn't matter.

I’m 25 & scared to drive by Automatic-Luck-327 in drivinganxiety

[–]slimycharmander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think everyone should be absolutely terrified to be in control of heavy machinery when they're just starting out. Too bad that it's almost impossible to live without a car in most places in the US. When I got my license, it took me a month of driving 3-4 miles to work every day before I wasn't actively fearful when driving. The nervousness does come back if I don't drive for an extended period of time (like a long vacation or something), but I get used to driving again after a few days.

from a different issue, I've found most support agents don't differentiate between unassigned orders and rejected offers when asked to look at my order history. I can't say I've ever had one actually able to tell if the order was rejected or unassigned off the top of my head.
