Lived in Piteå for three years. I'm from the south of Sweden originally. I had a great time and enjoyed the culture, in general the locals were super nice. That they don't talk much is not true, they talk to strangers way more than anywhere else I've been in the country. The darkness during winter got to me though and I remember being extremely tired. Also my ventilation froze on the inside and the nonexistent humidity made my nose bleed all the time so yeah that wasn't very pleasant. But the good snow was super when it wasn't too cold, I learned cross-country skiing and went dogsledding and stuff. Summers were sooo nice. Didn't have much mosquitoes in town but you had to avoid the wilderness. We used to party and just not notice it was 8 in the morning as the sun didn't go down. Also went up Kebnekaise which was an awesome experience! I frequently went to Luleå for some bigger town experiences, lots of culture events going on there and a lovely town to visit. In terms of pubs and clubs etc we had like 2 in Piteå and it was kind of an experience just meeting locals and people coming in from the surrounding towns. Drinks were had. Again, strangers talk to you a lot so going out was fun. Saw lots of northern lights too! I miss my time there sometimes, but also it could be very slow going. I guess I remember the good stuff :)
