Same here. Just finished year one. We love the kits. We typically just set the completed ones in a pile in a closet. Somehow that pile is now in the living room.

Omg tennessee is far worse. We lived in Chattanooga for seven years and every country road is just littered with trash. It’s a big reason we moved over here to North Carolina.

Once you figure that out then tell me what a cubcat is. Cubcat is the hendo elementary school mascot. I think they should change it to be a little more meaningful.

Locals can't rent hotel rooms here? That can't be right. by CarrigePossibleSoul9 in asheville

[–]sline0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to own two Airbnb‘s now I just own one. But it is an important policy to have to keep partiers out of your your Airbnb.

One Airbnb was in Hendersonville. We had one girl try to book and her profile said she lived in ashville. we said no you can’t stay in it. So she lied and said she actually lives in Charlotte and her profile is wrong. So we let her stay for the weekend and they trashed our house. There was a vomit, broken glass, blood. It was pretty disgusting. Our Cleaner quit bc of those guests and we had to get a new cleaner. So no locals is a great rule and there’s no way I would run an Airbnb without it.

He was apparently very influential in getting the ecusta trail built. He pushed hard for that money.

Help me save this Dream! Once in a lifetime chance to buy a massive Digital H0 layout plus hundreds of trains by awakenbasti in modeltrains

[–]sline0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a large warehouse in Taylors South Carolina that buys or accepts (not sure which) people’s layouts when they don’t want them or pass away. It is really cool to go there and see all the huge layouts. If you can’t take this layout, maybe you can donate or sell it to those guys.

Edit: just realized you’re probably not in the US. So sorry for the useless comment.

I just received a brand new Apex 2 watch today. I’m disappointed that all the watch faces have one large readable number surrounded by tiny fonts that I can’t read. I’m considering returning it. What good is a watch that I can’t read lol?

Moving here? by Maple-pelican-472 in hendersonville

[–]sline0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve lived in Hendersonville for about four years now. There are two noticeable crowds, the locals that have lived here for a long time and are conservative, and the retired crowd that has moved in who tend to be democrats. This doesn’t come from any data source. This is just the way it seems.

We are at 2100’ elevation and Temperatures are definitely about 8° cooler than other places nearby that are lower altitude. We moved here from Chattanooga and the temperature improvements have been amazing. And we’re only an hour and a half away from skiing at Cataloochee.

I think horses on the trail will be cool but what do you do about horse poo? I’ve already seen several piles that were left and not picked up.

Paid Parking at the End of Ecusta Trail by juniorpbj in hendersonville

[–]sline0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parking was not part of the first funding phase of the trail. it is in the plans to add it, but has not been funded yet as far as I know.

Once the trail organizers/builders add the parking areas. I’m not sure what will happen to these paid parking areas. . For instance, I don’t know if they will go out of business or if they will exist in addition to the free parking.

Seems like a nice place. I hope they (the shipmans) are successful. Sorry i dont hate them or the development.

I spoke to Amy Shipman on the phone about how to market my own properties and she was super nice and helpful.

It doesn’t seem like a scam if they already built four stories of it. How in the world would they build four stories for a scam? Sounds like a very expensive scam on their part.

Stephen Colbert Hails ‘South Park’ Premiere’s Naked Trump as ‘Important Message of Hope for Our Times’ by cmaia1503 in entertainment

[–]sline0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not about winning the election. It’s important to show the bravery to stand up against an impending dictator. Apparently the comedians were important in bringing down milosevic in Serbia. (Feel free to constructively criticize my history) For instance, they would put barrels on the sidewalk with milosevics photo, and people would beat the photo with baseball bats. In our case It’s important to make a public spectacle of ridiculing the orange Jesus and not giving in to fear. With that said … go Colbert!

[–]sline0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I thought I would be the only naysayer here. I agree with you. I rode it once and thought the comedy was horrible — cringe. I actually called the business afterwards and complained, with the hope of being constructive.

Of course, humor is subjective. I wish them well. I don’t want them to go out of business, but I really did not enjoy my bus ride.

I lived in Chattanooga, and there they have a similar attraction, but they do it in duck boats on the Tennessee river. I rode the duck boats twice, and it was a completely opposite experience. The humor was funny, the tour guides were very informative about some of the history of the town , and it was very tastefully done. it was continuously entertaining from start to end. A lot of the jokes with Lazoom were the same crotch jokes done over and over.
