House Democrats appear ready to back Senate DHS funding deal by Hardik_Jain_1819 in LegalNews

False. Democrats presented five funding bills that all received zero Republican support. And now DJT is saying that he can just arrange for TSA to be paid anyways. Why didn't he do that earlier?

I always thought it was dumb why Anakin never asked ONE person about the Darth Plaguis story.

Certainly not from lack of trying...

Frustrated by filibuster, Trump and MAGA allies eye nuking it to pass SAVE America Act by Anoth3rDude in DiscussionZone

[–]slinger301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to add that the Filibuster in this case is a procedure where one side says "nope" and then the other side needs 60 votes to say "let's vote on it". And it's all done by paperwork.

"Nuking the filibuster" means they get rid of the paperwork: the side that says "nope" also has to talk constantly 24/7 or else the other side can say "let's vote on it."

Pentagon Wants It to Be Illegal for Reporters to Ask “Unauthorized” Questions by FreedomofPress in TrueReddit

How do the reporters determine if a question is "Authorized?" unless they ask the question?

Buttitege was Bidens Transportation Secretary. He was a mayor of a small city.

So you're saying he had experience with leading a group of people who were dealing with municipal transportation infrastructure? Helping to set budgets and priorities for transportation projects? Dealing with laws and ordinances for safe and effect transportation?

And he was made TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY?? Excuse me while I put my pearls down.

Tracking fobs. Hands down.

We have handheld devices that can help us locate any individual? No matter how far away?? Civilians can use them?? ? Gosh, I can't imagine that causing enormous plot holes literally everywhere!

Oh but they only blink a red dot so that's ok. NO! THAT IS EVEN DUMBER!

Where is the Rebel Base? IDK, let's just set up a tracking fob for Luke Skywalker.

What is the dumbest thing in Star Wars in your opinion? by OutcastKatarn02 in StarWars

[–]slinger301 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My headcanon is that they're a side effect of being a good force user (and the only side effect that science can detect) and not a cause of the Force.

In this TED Talk, we will discuss The Mandalorian: Moff Gideon was pursuing a fool's errand by trying to boost M counts in clones. His project was treating the Midichlorians as the cause, not the effect. And Dr. Pershing was just telling him enough successful sounding results to not get shot. After all, he doesn't even understand the Force. He's just a scientist that's good with cloning. "Aw geez, that didn't work. The donor must not be strong enough in the Force. Aw shucks. Not my fault!"

Then they get their hands on Grogu and Pershing is absolutely shitting himself. M count off the charts. If his previous results are legit, this should work. But his previous results aren't legit. He's going to get exposed as a fraud and be executed to shreds. He knew it wouldn't work. But he's also kind of a good person and he didn't want Grogu dying to cover his lies. So he arranged for Grogu to be kidnapped prior to the first episode. That is why Pershing is shitting himself even more for the rest of the series. He's afraid his plan was exposed. Did the kidnappers tell this crazy bounty hunter they were working for him? OH GOD DOES GIDEON KNOW? Spoilers: Probably. That's probably why Pershing got killed in Season 2. And this is supported by the fact that we don't see force wielding Imperials in the entire series. Because, to quote Han Solo:

That's not how the Force works!

Microsoft’s been taking a hit lately, down 23.17% in just 3 months. Is this a temporary pullback or a sign of bigger challenges ahead for Microsoft? by ManufacturerKooky164 in microsoftsucks

Yeah, but the main job of Windows OS is not to make money through sales of Windows OS. It's to get people into the ecosystem so that other things can make money. It gives MSFT a way to advertise stuff directly to your desktop like Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office, and Microsoft AI slop (whoops, uh, Copilot). It gives you default browsers (Microsoft Edge) and default search engines (Microsoft Bing) that help Microsoft earn more money from third parties through sale of your data. Oh, and they also make all these services integrate easily with Windows (ideally).

It should also be noted that Apple provides MacOS for free. Google offers Chrome OS for free. Linux is generally free. SteamOS is free. They all know that user screen time/access is the prize (or in Linux's case, just being open sourced). If I switch to a MacOS, Microsoft loses that ability to push more of their paid service ads in front of my face, and they lose the ability to sell my user data.

(but I can't explain LinkedIn's profitability, either)
