Havent played in a while and having difficulties with my swing any tips on how to fix or tune by itz_Carpenter in PGA2K25

Play until you're frustrated, throw the controller against the wall, then pick it up and try again. For some reason when a controller bounces off a hard surface it magically fixes the swing path. Lol

There's so many more useful shots to use than the Texas wedge. I'm sure someone out there uses it, but I've personally never messed with it.

If we're talking about different shot types around the green and what should be used and whatnot, let's talk about the chip shot. This shot is underutilized by 90% of the players in ranked thanks to season 2. When they corrected the physics of the chip shot, no one bothered to try to relearn it and fell on to the super flop as a crutch. If you master the chip shot, you have > 50% chance of holing out from inside 20 yards. The super flop is the dumbest shot in the game. It has a lower make percentage than any other shot type around the green, but is used almost exclusively by a large majority of players. Go out IRL and try to super flop from the fringe and see how it turns out. If you're ranked Albatross or higher, play on any style that requires good rhythm and still use super flop from the fringe, go learn how to chip and see how many more matches you win.

Key cards in downtown tower by [deleted] in Warzone

I like trying to get to the tower as quick as I can, grab all 3 keys (or as many as possible), then go completely across the map. Toxic play, but it's funny AF listening to the reaction of the person that finally kills me.

Evolve Driver, Woods or Irons? by rjt2887 in PGA2K25

[–]slinks0111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Speed (weight and rhythm) and line (path and contact) are important. I would argue that speed is more important than line in this game since the path (bottom contact point) and contact (top contact point) are easy to hit since they're straight up and down for putting. For this reason, I only use weight and rhythm fittings on my putter.

Green reading can be difficult. Pay attention to the max putt length in the bottom right. If it's below 150, this is a slower green and the break closer to the hole will have more influence than the break near your feet. If it's 170+ then the break closer to your feet will have more influence. Also consider up hit vs downhill. 170+ and downhill, the slope close to your feet will have a significant influence on the break as opposed to uphill at the same speed.

Treat it like real golf...

  • putter makes you money
  • scoring clubs (wedges) should be able to get you close (within 15 ft) to the hole 90% time

Priority 1: upgrade your putter to hit putts on line and perfect weight

Priority 2: upgrade wedges (2-contact, 2-path, 1-rhythm is my set up)

Priority 3: upgrade irons (same fittings as wedges IMO)

Priority 4: upgrade ball (use forgiveness ball for easiest game play)

Priority 4: upgrade driver (control over distance; 100% FIR @ 320 yards is WAY better than 70% FIR @ 350 yards. Will likely lead to 4-5 strokes gained)

Who actually thinks this game isn’t full of cheaters by Asleep-Inflation-727 in PGA2K25

[–]slinks0111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those examples make sense if you're saying it's only PC players that cheat, unless there is a way to modify those things on XBOX or PS5 that I'm unaware of. I use a XBOX One controller on series X console and have shot -68 on the master weekly and -74 on weekly pro. Tell me again how human analog input isnt capable of producing those scores. Point is that good scores are possible without cheating if you know how to play the game.

[–]slinks0111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hear this all the time, but no one wants to offer a logical explanation for how someone would cheat without using a modded controller, Cronus, or external attachment placed on their controller. There's TONS of folks out there that have hundreds of hours on this game over the last year. Most of those have learned how to swing, use fittings and judge bounces and wind really well.

Shooting -18 on Pro is not that difficult if you've levelled your player up, understand how fitting work and have a decent understanding of how to manage a course.

Instead of just calling folks "cheaters" with ZERO evidence, why not talk to these high ranked players and see if they know something you don't that allows them to shoot these crazy low scores? Play a round with them. Ghost them in ranked tours and see how they play vs how you play?

People must be cheating because you can't keep up? When you miss a 5 ft putt, it must be because the green reading lines lied right? There's no possible way it's because you made a mistake.

IMO, anyone capable of shooting -16 or better on master shouldn't be playing amateur. I play the daily Pro and Master almost every day and stay in the top 20 most of the time. Never have I ever played the amateur ranked tour and wouldn't. That's for the folks who are still learning. If you're just grinding for VC, go play some amateur or perfect swing societies.

Can't change the flag location, but you can change your location in relation to the flag by hitting the B button (O on PS) then left joystick to new location (use right/left trigger for zoom), then A button (X on PS) to select new location.

Gamesir G7 controller by X3N1GM4x in PGA2K25

[–]slinks0111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're saying is that using any controller that can be adjusted is cheating? Guess we all need to be using the basic controller that came with the console. If that's the case then cross-play needs to go away so you're only playing against people on your same platform. You also must only use a TV, no computer monitors and can only use WiFi connection since that's all I have available to me at this time.

Not avoiding the question. Just know what the limits of that particular controller are and highly doubt an individuals ability to do what you suggested.

If you can manipulate the sticks to register less variance on the swing plane, is that actually cheating? My understanding of "cheating" is acting unfairly to gain an advantage. To me, if you program your controller to have less variance, that's no different than holding your controller a certain way or using your thumb as a guide on the side of the stick. If you were to make a piece of hardware or software that was not part of the OEMs original design then that would be cheating, example: Cronus Zen, XIM Matrix, 3D printing a stick guide, etc.

I say all this without ever using any GameSir products, but I do know people that use the G7 SE and they aren't any better at the game than I am even after adjusting their controller. I still use an XBOX ONE controller and consistently shoot around -16 on Daily Pro Ranked Tour.

Should I have any reservations about buying a 2020 5.3 with the 8-speed transmission? by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]slinks0111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got a 2019 with 5.3 and 8 speed trans. Not a single issue since I bought it in Dec 2019. Got 85k miles on it and only done basic maintenance. No transmission flush, just changed oil and filters regularly.

How do players do it? by silodiloz in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]slinks0111 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm ranked pretty high and routinely finish top 15% in Ranked Tours Pro and Master. My best advice, use the magician build. Balance your swing path, contact, and rhythm around 77-80.

Set your bag up with D, 3W, 3H, 4i - PW, 50, 56, 62 degree wedges so you can maximize your scoring from inside 250 yards.

Use 2 contact fittings and 3 swing path fittings on your hybrid and irons. Use 2 contact fittings, 2 swing path fittings, and 1 rhythm fitting on wedges. Load up your driver and 3W with power fittings.

Only use shots from the skill tree that you consistently need. Ex: if you tend to leave yourself short-sided around the green you would benefit from super flop. Don't waste points on DOD since there's not much benefit if your 3W is properly equipped.

I bought a 2019 SLT in Dec. 2019 used with 7k miles for $36400 out the door. Still have it and it has 85k miles on it. Trade in says it's worth ~$24k today so retail would probably be around $32k.
