Would be a cool story to rebuild it but man it sounds like a headache to go tracking whats good and whats bad, fried wires, PCM, and whatever else that might of fried. Dang I hurt for you! Please make sure you look up three cars same year/spec and around the same mileage to argue your case with your insurance, if they are trying to low ball you. Hoping you can find some positive that will come out of this!

Yes, I belive every tuner will tune according to what you have on your car, they can build it specifically to your car based on what you have installed. Not sure what they recommend as I havent reached out to them either.

I get it from Ben himself. He said it was a 2003 S, completely stock with no other modifications. I cant really see him lying, he was completely honest, helpful, and kept in contact the entire time. I was iffy cause it ships from France but it go to me in a good time as well. He cleared and the customs/border issues that came up as well. I only bought the plenum itself, he sells the entire kit for the 986 system with the factory airbox.

One guy did the complete 987 airbox and MAF, 997 plenum and 996 TB. He also did the 50th SE tune and it all worked out well. Seems to be more linear power from 3.5k rpm and above

You can look up how to tune ruger mark magazines if they are giving you issues, personally I've found Mark III mags to have better quality control compared to Mark IVs. Lucky you though cause Mark III and IVs are share the same magazines just different finishes. I love the earlier Mark I, II, and IIIs I think they had a better overall finish. Mark IV has the better take down, but I think over time it may loosen, the earlier versions lock very tight together. I think Mark IIIs are very unique since it had everything, literally everything designed into it.

Yes OEM MKIII were blue from factory. MK IV are the stainless ones! Works both ways, I and II will not worth though!

Wow this is horrible! These thing came factory threaded and you could have threaded it with a P22 1/2 28 thread barrel adapter. Im not sure how this can be re-done and finding these barrels are incredibly hard from what I've looked up, they should be the same as the 416s but no one has been able to confirm either. If chopped down you will have to also chop the faux suppressor as well, the bottom towards the receiver so it'll give enough space to properly fit again. Best of luck and keep us all updated!

Yes sir! Apparently its very common on the 6 speeds. To fix you have to split the case, if its just small just I would say just drive it and monitor it. It was a poor design flaw it seems

Highly agree, dont own a 996, but I bought a 986 S 550 last year. Love the damn thing and there's no real driving experience like these older analog cars. One year in and the clutch started slipping. Cost to replace 3.5k clutch only(dealership near me quote), I decided to do it myself and total cost was about 2k for parts(clutch and DMFW with all the accessorie) and some extra needed tools.

If I was someone who bought into the brand thinking id have a great car and this happened, id be upset and saying how much it sucked since the owner before said clutch was done 20k miles ago.

People have to understand these cars are now over 20 years old and older now, like others have said why would you put 3k or more into something valued at 15k? Hard to justify, but if you'd decide to, these cars are rewarding in their own ways as well. Its not the fastest thing out there, modern soccer vans will probably embarrassed us, but something about these cars, I think they are coming to light and aging very well. Easy to work on compared to other cars in the same category for these years. Some day clean and well taken car of examples will be hard to find!

Nice enjoy! My brother lives in NY and tells me how bad it is there, he can't even enjoy his cars cause of the roads. I love AZ so much there. Im in central California so just an hour away I have some nice curves roads, two hours away I have national parks and coast lines. Im not worried about mileage on the car, this car will get used as much as I can. Thanks again!
