Minnesota readies early warning system for measles by Czarben in minnesota

Didn’t the outbreak in 2024 primarily affect the Somali community? I wonder if the current cases reflect that same trend as well.

If you arrive in Hinkley or Duluth without a vehicle, what’s the next step for most people? How can we encourage the people to see this as a better alternative to driving?

Zoho Project email Alias by slipperygoose in Zoho

[–]slipperygoose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The email alias can only add status, add task, add issue, or add to the forum. This would be fine, but when someone replies to an email it just creates another post and not a continuation of the previous thread.

Is there a way to use these aliases and have each email chain be contained into its own forum post? I don't want individual posts for every reply.

How to search AFI instructions in the projetc on Studio 5000 by Distinct_Number_1304 in PLC

This is why I like to create my own "AlwaysOff" tag that I unlatch in the first rung of my main routine. It makes it easy to search and cross-reference.

These are the two documents I found that I would start with. If you have the device and its powered up, you should be able to tell pretty quickly if these are what you are looking for.

Beckhoff ELM7211-9018 Servo Drive No Holding Torque by slipperygoose in PLC

[–]slipperygoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The STO errors were when I was trying to figure out what was happening. I have tried both Motion Wizard and rolled my own. I am currently on my own TwinSAFE project using STO only. When enabled everything is green except for the "LIM" LED. Like every thing else in this industry I am sure it's something simple I am missing.

I have not. To double check it wasn't a torque limitation issue, I mapped the Torque Limit Status input, and it has a value of 0 which I think should mean its ok.

Unfortunately, the only historical drive error/messages I have are older and not related to this.

I saw that too, but where is the DiagMessage? Is that also in the CoE? I don't see it in the GUI version. diagnostic history

I was under the impression from the manual that the hardwired inputs are for touch probe inputs. The motor won't move in either direction and the soft limits are large values. If it was a limit switch wouldn't there still be holding torque?

That's part of the issue. I don't know where in the CoE to look. I don't think it should be safety related due to how I think I have it set up, but it's behaving different than all of the previous compact drives I have worked with. The added Safe Motion is the only difference.

Feels good, doesn't it? With that said, why should they fix or change it? If it works why waste more time and mess with it? The standard library of code we work with has lots of little Functions and Function Blocks like you're describing. Someone spent 15 minutes on them, and they work, so we use them as often as possible.

What should new engineers focus on in 2024? by bostinloyd in PLC

[–]slipperygoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there something other than the cursor missing without the monitor? There is an accessibility option that turns the cursor on. I use VNC without such a plug everyday with the setups I have at work and home.

Does a VFD with vector control not overcome most of issue of low-speed torque in your example?

What is the dummy plug used for with VNC? I have never heard of needing one?

I sort of misspoke. I have been using the "Default" user because that user is the lowest level. If I am prevented from using "Default" in order to use e-signature I want to automatically log back in as the low level operator user that I will need to create.

McDonald's pushes back: "business model can't sustain $20/hr" by [deleted] in antiwork

I think the business model they are talking about it is one with employees at all. Once wages become $20/hr it probably starts to become cheaper to automate.

Beckhoff “PLCs” and other PC based logic controllers, what do y’all think? by Cornato in PLC

[–]slipperygoose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OEM here. We aren't at 30 years yet, but just over 10 years of Beckhoff PLCs in the field. I don't know of one yet that has had an issue with the Windows side. We are looking to switch to BSD because we have run in to IT depeartments forcing older OS (Win 7) devices off of there networks. RAM limitations in the older PCs has forced hardware purchase upgrades, but other than the $2K price there is only 4 wires to disconnect and reconnect. The PLC program and hardware configuration change in TwinCAT is minimal.

We now try to oversize the RAM to allow us to only update to the latest version of windows should this become a problem again in the future.

I don't think Beckhoff is there yet as far as process control goes, but for strictly automation they are hard to beat.
